Atlanta Trap Music: Here Are Some Trap Artists You Should Know

    4 Min Read

With the Trap Music Museum still drawing visitors and Atlanta’s influence on global hip-hop stronger than ever, the city’s trap legacy continues to evolve. T.I. remains a foundational figure for naming and popularizing the genre, but the sound has grown far beyond its early-2000s roots—blending melodic flows, futuristic synths, high-energy party anthems, and underground experimentation.

Rapper T.I. is largely credited with creating trap music, especially since he christened an album “Trap Music” back in the early part of the century. But others have tried to share some of the credit, or blame, for the music, which has grown from its Southern roots to all parts of the country.

Still, Atlanta is its birthplace. With that being the case, here are some other trap rappers you should get to know.

Rising Stars and Breakouts to Watch in 2026

    • Belly Gang Kushington — Westside Atlanta’s trap revivalist. Known for shutting down I-20 with a freestyle, his album The Streets Is Yours (2025) and tracks like “Trap Star” and “Four One” bring back that raw, early-2000s Jeezy/T.I.-inspired energy with modern flair. He’s making a strong case as Atlanta’s next major trap star.
    • B — East Atlanta’s breakout sensation and one of the faces of the “futuristic era” revival. Hits like “Bunna Summa,” “Innit,” and “A.T.L.A.N.T.A.” mix jubilant flows, dramatic strings, and light-hearted synths. She’s been everywhere—features with Metro Boomin, block-party anthems, and helping lead a wave of fun, personality-driven Atlanta rap.
    • PLUTO — Westside Atlanta’s confident, party-ready force. Her viral smash “Whim Whammiee” (with YKNIECE, later remixed with Sexyy Red) became a summer anthem, followed by albums, tours (including with Lil Baby), and more high-energy tracks. She embodies the bold, ratchet, chart-climbing side of new ATL trap.
    • Che — Young melodic rage/trap innovator signed to 10K Projects. With mixtapes like Closed Captions and albums blending bass-heavy production, autotune, and catchy flows, he’s built a dedicated following and continues gaining traction.
    • Zukenee — A unique underground-to-mainstream riser blending 2010s ATL trap hooks with stark, Carti-influenced production and a one-of-a-kind medieval aesthetic (swords, knights, etc.). Projects like SLAYTANIC and KNIGHT SHIFT showcase bouncy, carefree songwriting that stands out.
    • YK Niece — Frequent collaborator in the female-led wave, adding high-energy vibes.
    • Bankroll Ni — Signed talent keeping the streets-and-party balance alive. baltimoresun.com
    • Emerging underground voices like SpookDaKiid, Clejan, and others pushing trap-soul, fusion, and experimental sounds. shop.bottegadelsarto.com

Trap music remains Atlanta’s global export, spreading from the city’s neighborhoods to playlists worldwide while the local scene stays innovative and competitive. Newer artists are blending nostalgia with fresh production, proving the sound is far from static.

Why Do Artists Love Performing in Atlanta?

Big music artists love performing in Atlanta for a few key reasons.

First, the city has a massive, passionate music fanbase—it’s a cultural hub where people live and breathe music, especially hip-hop, R&B, and trap. The energy from the crowds is electric, and artists feed off that vibe.

Second, Atlanta’s history as a launching pad for talent means it’s got a reputation—performers know they’re stepping into a place that’s shaped legends like OutKast, T.I., and Future. It’s almost like a rite of passage.

Third, the infrastructure’s top-notch: venues like State Farm Arena or the Tabernacle are world-class, and the city’s logistics make it a smooth stop on tours.

Plus, the nightlife and creative scene draw artists in—they can network, collaborate, or just soak in the culture while they’re there.

It’s a sweet spot where audience love, legacy, and practicality collide.

Atlanta has several live-music venues you should check out. If you plan on going to downtown Atlanta for a concert, make sure you enjoy a dinner at one of these restaurants.

  • Atlanta International Pop Festival was 1969

Before Woodstock, There Was The Atlanta International Pop Festival

    2 Min Read

Much is made about the guitar work of superstar Jimmy Hendrix, whose rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” forever altered the anthem in the minds of countless baby boomers.

The performance was cemented at Woodstock, the 1969 music festival in upstate New York.

Remembering The Atlanta International Pop Festival

More than a month before more than 400,000 hippies, college students and lost souls traveled to a remote gathering space up north, Atlanta hosted an event that featured many of the same artists.

When Was The Atlanta International Pop Festival?

The official name of Woodstock was “An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music,” in ATL, The rock festival was held at the Atlanta International Raceway in Hampton, home of the Atlanta Motor Speedway, on July 4th, 1969.

According to Birmingham Weekly, “The bill was wildly eclectic, from mainstream jazz with Dave Brubeck to first generation rock with Chuck Berry; from sweet soul by the Staple Singers and Booker T to the blues of Canned Heat and Paul Butterfield; from the folk of Ian and Sylvia to the cataclysm of Led Zeppelin. As an intrepid band of explorers from Alabama arrived at the outskirts of Hampton prior to the show amid a stupendous traffic jam, it was clear that word-of-mouth had drawn the crowd Cooley sought.”

Cooley would go on to apologetically host a concert the following Monday in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park, embarrassed that he’d made a $12,000 profit at the pop fest. “You have to understand the context,”  Cooley told Atlanta Magazine. “It was the height of the Vietnam War, and Lester Maddox was governor. I wanted to do something that would make people where I lived understand that we could change.”

Cardi B Makes Some Good Points About Coronavirus (VIDEO)

    3 Min Read

Holed up in her Atlanta mansion, rapper Cardi B has been sharing updates about her self-isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic. Many celebrities have gone silent about the pandemic, but not Cardi!

The entertainer recently posted a video in which she makes some good points on the mixed messages that the general public is getting concerning COVID-19.

Cardi B: People Are Getting Mixed Messages On COVID-19

If #45 is getting on a podium and saying, ‘Hey listen, if you do not have any symptoms … do not get tested, because we do not have enough tests to test everybody … but if a celebrity is saying, ‘I don’t have no symptoms … and I’m positive for coronavirus,’ that causes confusion,” she said on her IG.

That causes people to say, ‘Wait a minute now, I don’t have no symptoms but I know I went out that day. I might just have it … I”m scared because I’m around my kid, I’m around my grandparents … I might just have it. What should I do?” she said.

She also highlighted the major class lines around COVID-19 that nobody is really talking about.

“The general public, people who work regular jobs, the middle class, the poor …they’re not getting treated like the high — the ones that are up here (she raises her hand), the celebrities and everything — they’re not getting tested for coronavirus [especially not] the next day.”

Another hypocritical thing Cardi B brings out is that, if you’re under 30 and have a cold, helath professinoals are saying that if you don’t have that cold – or similar symptom — for eight days, they won’t test you.

“If you’re positive, they will tell you to quarantine in your home and don’t come back to the hospital] untli your temperature is 100-something degrees,” she says.

Cardi says she doesn’t feel that’s right. Also a lot of people live in close quarters and can’t

“If you’re sending me home and I have the coronavirus, I”m most likely going to give it to my spouse, my kids, anybody that’s around me.”

She also touches on the fact that celebrities have the money to pay for a COVID-19 test, but regular people don’t. So what’s the solution she says?

“I feel like the government should .. charge that [S..] to the game.”

What do you think? Do you agree with Cardi B?
