Slabtown Public House Set To Close

Slabtown will reportedly shut down for good on Saturday, September 24, 2022.

Gillespie said that Slabtown just couldn’t be kept float, according to a statement obtained from the Chronicle.

“We have made the incredibly difficult decision to close Slabtown Public House permanently,” Gillespie said in the written statement. “The reality is that many small businesses have closed since 2020 either due directly or indirectly to the economic impacts of COVID-19; we are simply the latest to do so. In time we hope to be able to bring Atlanta new restaurants again.”

Across the past two years, scores of Atlanta restaurants have closed down due to COVID-19 and its many variants. Staying above water has oftentimes centered on keeping fewer staff members on board and shifting to contactless carry-out and delivery options.
