Atlanta’s own Big Boi, one half of the legendary rap group Outkast, has been confirmed as the third big-name artist that will perform at the 2019 Atlanta Super Bowl.

Chloe and Halle has also been confirmed, joining Travis Scott joined the slim lineup, along with Maroon 5, as halftime performers for Sunday, Feb. 3 event. Soulstress Gladys Knight has been tapped to sing the national anthem.

The addition of Big Boi brings some much-needed ATL cred to the high-profile Super Bowl lineup, which has been somewhat controversial since it was announced.

Travis Scott received torrents of criticism online after the news was announced in late November. Actor Michael B. Jordan, who has been in Atlanta for much of the year filming, said that Travis Scott’s appearance at the Super Bowl would send a mixed message.

“We’re still trying to stand behind something,” Jordan told TMZ. He was referring to the NFL’s treatment of Colin Kaepernick.

Los Angeles-based Maroon 5, which is led by singer Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton, have all but signed the dotted line, the tabloid reports.

The Atlanta Super Bowl is set for February 3, 2019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

To send a strong statement to the NFL, some artists have turned down the Atlanta Super Bowl, notably Cardi B, 2018’s hottest rapper.

Also, political commentator Al Sharpton blasted Travis Scott for his decision to perform. “You can’t fight Jim Crow and then sit in the back of the bus,” he said.

Maroon 5 will join such accomplished acts as Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, U2, The Who, Katy Perry and more as those who have rocked the crowd for the largest sports event in the world.

Maroon 5 was formed in 1994, going by the moniker Kara’s Flowers, but after years of starts and stops, the band rebranded as Maroon 5 in 2001. Mainstream success came soon after.

Some of the band’s hits include “Harder to Breathe,” “Makes Me Wonder” and “Moves Like Jagger.”

Atlanta is gearing up for several weeks of activities, culminating in the Super Bowl, where nearly 1 million people will converge on the city.
