Popeyes is celebrating its 50th anniversary by giving its customers a great deal nationwide, including in Atlanta, Georgia.

The popular fried chicken restaurant began in the New Orleans suburb of Arabi, Louisiana on June 12, 1972. That’s when owner Alvin C. Copeland Sr., opened his “Chicken on the Run” eatery.

After months of unimpressive sales, Copeland renamed the restaurant “Popeyes” after Popeye Doyle of The French Connection and the eatery took off.
