Pinewood Studios Pledges $10K To Back Aspiring Georgia Filmmakers

Kickstarter recently announced a new program for independent creators to get funding. It’s called Kickstarter Patrons. In partnership with the program, Pinewood Atlanta Studios, located in nearby Fayetteville, is looking to back filmmakers in Georgia.

Pinewood, the studio that gave us “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Black Panther,”Pitch Perfect 3,” “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” and more, is promising $10,000 to movies with teams that have at least one female filmmaker who resides in Georgia.

Pinewood says it is seeking movies “with originality of premise, clarity of narrative, and personal vision,” and part of the package will include mentorship, networking opportunities, cash and access to the “Pinewood Atlanta Studios ecosystem of vendors.”

Pinewood, which is the U.S. branch of the UK-based Pinewood, Shepperton and Pinewood Studio Wales, has been booming in recent years. The brand has opened up studios in international places, such as Canada, Malaysia, and the Dominican Republic, in recent years.

Kickstarter says, “Each Patron makes a public commitment to support campaigns on Kickstarter that align with their mission. Patrons will support projects just like any other backer — through single pledges, and in order to bring them one step closer to reality. There is no application process for Patron funding. All projects launched on Kickstarter are eligible, and Patrons will work closely with Kickstarter to find projects that are inspiring and in line with their missions.”

If your organization is interested in participating as a Patron on Kickstarter, contact patrons@kickstarter.com.
