An Atlanta native and one of the hottest rappers in the game — Lil Baby — has just opened a seafood restaurant in Atlanta near downtown. The eatery, The Seafood Menu Restaurant & Lounge, held a grand opening at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023.
The Seafood Menu joins several other celebrity-owned restaurants in Atlanta, which has a burgeoning dining scene.
Rapper Lil Baby Opens Restaurant In Southwest Atlanta
Lil Baby, real name, Dominique Armani Jones, went public back in 2021 about his plans to own a food spot in his hometown.
“I have a new restaurant and I’ma open it in Atlanta,” he said during an XXL interview back then. “It was supposed to be open by January, but we had to finish the stages, so maybe, February, March.”
Fast forward to summer 2023 and Lil Baby is a restaurateur.
“Restaurants are one of the few businesses that have lasted for 50 years, standing strong even through the challenges of the pandemic,” Lil Baby said in a written statement. “I believe in the power of endurance.”
What’s On The Menu At The Seafood Menu?
According to a press release, the restaurant will specialize in affordable seafood dishes like shrimp, salmon paired with delectable sauces and appetizers. The restaurant will also have Caribbean Jerk, one of the owner’s favorite cuisines.
The restaurant’s interior design was done by Jasmine Smith, who worked with Lil Baby and business partner Chad Dillon (The Boiler Room), to decorate the place.
“When they showed me the location, I saw that it was in the heart of Atlanta,” Smith told Essence. “I first came to them for any info that they had, and Baby and Chad pretty much agreed that they wanted something that was for our culture.”
“They wanted to do something that involved a hip hop type of feel, but also keep it Atlanta,” she told the publication. “That’s how I came up with the wall design. I took Baby’s favorite R&B and hip hop artists, along with Atlanta’ monumental establishments like the Braves’ stadium and The Varsity, and other places he visited growing up. So, I wanted the interior to feel like home. I wanted it to feel like Atlanta.”
