Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall Opens Second Location in West Midtown Atlanta

Atlanta’s beloved camp-themed hangout is expanding westward. Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall opens its new West Midtown outpost today, October 21, 2026, at 3 p.m. at 690 11th St. NW in the Star Metals District.

The original Ladybird has been a fixture along the Beltline’s Eastside Trail for more than a decade, known for its laid-back outdoor vibe, live-fire cooking, and dog-friendly patio.

Ladybird Opens in West Midtown

The new location transforms a former industrial warehouse into a roughly 8,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor space with partially peeled-back roofs, open walls, planted trees in gravel patio areas, climbing vines, murals, and ample greenspace. It sits across from the former Six Feet Under site, in the shadow of the Stella at Star Metals residential tower.

Parking, Partnerships, and Neighborhood Perks

Parking—a frequent pain point in West Midtown—gets a practical solution. Ladybird secured two hours of complimentary validated parking in a next-door lot (about 50 spaces), plus a rideshare-friendly entrance with a widened sidewalk roundabout and additional free street parking along nearby avenues like Bellingrath and Edgehill.

The spot is already teaming up with local partners. It will host official Georgia Tech sports watch parties (the campus is nearby) and serve a specialty cocktail called Ramblin’ Wrecked. A dog-focused “Bark Ranger” menu ($5 items including Puppy Patio Punch and a Dog Bone treat) directs all proceeds to the Atlanta Humane Society through November 15.

Menu and Atmosphere

Executive Chef Dan Diersen leads the kitchen, carrying over signature campfire-style dishes while adding West Midtown exclusives such as the Trail Pack (a shareable lunchbox with housemade meat sticks, cheddar crisps, pickles, deviled eggs, trail mix, and a fruit roll-up) and Campfire Roasted Chicken. A rotisserie-style smoker expands the live-fire options. Expect the familiar mix of trail snacks, burgers, barbecue, classic cocktails, craft beer, and brunch (Friday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.). The space includes a 50-seat bar and a mostly open-air layout designed for gathering.

Hours for the new location are Monday–Thursday 3 p.m.–midnight, Friday–Saturday 11 a.m.–1 a.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.–midnight.

Opening Weekend

A three-day “Go West” celebration runs October 23–25 with Golden Hour specials, a Westside Trading Post market pop-up, live music, local makers, Georgia Tech football viewing, limited-edition merch for the first 50 guests each day (plus a chance at a $1,200 gift card), and puppies available for adoption. The original Eastside location remains open.

Owned by Electric Hospitality (Michael Lennox’s group, which also operates Muchacho and Electric Room), the West Midtown outpost is intended as a multi-year anchor for the Star Metals District’s adaptive-reuse phase, even as longer-term redevelopment plans exist for the site.

For a city still navigating restaurant turnover in West Midtown, Ladybird’s combination of proven Beltline appeal, free parking, dog-friendly touches, and campus energy offers a timely new gathering spot. Details and updates are available via Ladybird’s official channels and site.
