Atlanta chef and restaurateur Deborah VanTrece is opening an Italian restaurant called La Parnada, AtlantaFi.com has learned.
The new Italian restaurant will be housed in the space formerly occupied by VanTrece’s Latin soul food eatery, Serenidad, which closed abruptly in February.
Chef Deborah VanTrece To Open Italian Restaurant La Pernada
VanTrece’s new restaurant La Pernada will open its doors on May 12, 2023, around the same time the finalists for the James Beard Awards, which honor the nation’s top chefs and food creators, are announced. VanTrece is a semifinalist this year.
The new eatery is a relatively small space, which suits VanTrace just fine these days.
“I was at a point [before the pandemic] when I was looking for bigger space,” she told Nation’s Restaurant News. “We need bigger! We need bigger!” she said. “And now I’ve completely gotten that out of my head where I don’t want to take that big space, the challenges — not just the expenses related to it, but even the employment.”
She also owns Twisted Soul Cookhouse & Pours in West Midtown and Oreatha’s at the Point in Cascade.
As for La Pernada, the menu will specialize in traditional Italian fare prepared with local ingredients, according to a news release.
Where Is La Pernada Located?
La Pernada is located at 2317 Cascade Rd, Atlanta, GA 30311. Here’s a map to help you find it.
Final Word
The VanTrece Hospitality Group continues to push the plate when it comes to expansion around Atlanta. We can’t wait to try the fare at La Pernarda.
Chef VanTrece’s take on Italian cuisine will no doubt be a hit in Cascade Heights. The eatery will add to the great black-owned restaurants you need to know about in the city.
