Iron Jane is an upcoming dramatic film centered on the intense world of competitive female bodybuilding. It stars Eiza González as Janie John and Brandon Sklenar as her coach, with Lissette Feliciano writing and directing the project.
The movie began filming in Atlanta in late summer.

The story follows Janie John (González), a woman whose childhood was marked by neglect and invisibility. She is drawn into competitive female bodybuilding—a realm where pain equates to power and physiques are forged rather than inherited. The sport offers her something previously unattainable: the chance to become untouchable. Coached by a former champion (Sklenar), Janie embarks on an extreme physical transformation involving relentless training, performance enhancers, and growing dependence. As her body sharpens and she rises quickly through the ranks, her grip on reality begins to fracture. Trapped in a system that rewards perfection and punishes weakness, she spirals toward a godlike ideal that threatens to destroy her from within, ultimately exploring whether true strength lies in surrender rather than invincibility.
González, known for roles in 3 Body Problem, Baby Driver, Alita: Battle Angel, and other high-profile projects, has publicly shared her demanding physical preparation for the part, posting images of her increasingly muscular physique and describing the journey as special and transformative. She has trained with professionals experienced in major body transformations and has spoken about the role’s emotional and physical intensity, comparing elements of the story to films like I, Tonya, Monster, and Requiem for a Dream.
Sklenar, recognized for work in The Housemaid, It Ends With Us, and other films, plays the former champion who guides Janie. Both leads are also involved as producers through their respective companies.
Feliciano, whose debut feature Women is Losers premiered at SXSW and was later acquired by HBO Max, brings a personal and thematic focus to the material. She has described Iron Jane as “a story about discovering that true strength is often found in surrender,” praising González’s physical and emotional commitment and Sklenar’s presence in creating a memorable dynamic.
Highland Film Group is handling international sales and introduced the project to buyers at the Cannes Marché du Film in May 2026. The production involves a team including Andrea Bucko (Sugar Rush Pictures), Jay Glazer (Neon Kite), Matthew Cooper, Anna Dragoo, Ford Corbett, Nathan Klingher, and others, with additional producing credits for the stars and Feliciano. Filming was slated to begin in Kentucky in July 2026, with additional scenes planned around bodybuilding events (such as in Atlanta). A completion year of 2027 has been noted in industry listings.
Iron Jane arrives amid growing interest in stories examining the physical and psychological costs of extreme athletic pursuit, particularly for women navigating systems that demand perfection. With its focus on identity, control, and resilience, the film positions itself as both a character-driven drama and a window into the high-stakes culture of competitive bodybuilding. No theatrical or streaming release date has been announced as of the latest reports.
