The 2019 Georgia Gravity Games Come To Douglasville

Atlanta’s Georgia Tech and the City of Douglasville are teaming up with Google for the 2019 Georgia Gravity Games, a gravity-only car race competition happening this weekend.

  1. Yeager Middle School (Douglasville)
  2. Brighten Academy (Douglasville)

Super Stock Class (240-pound limit):

  1. Brighten Academy (Douglasville)
  2. Reece Dalton (individual)

Scottie Stock Class (255-pound limit):

  1. Brighten Academy (Douglasville)
  2. Chapel Hill High School (Douglasville)

Engineered Class:

  1. Brighten Academy (Douglasville)
  2. Brighten Academy (Douglasville)

Autonomous Class:

  1. Douglas County High School (Douglasville)
  2. Paul Duke STEAM High School (Norcross)
 
The event is slated for Saturday, November 2, 2018, in downtown Douglasville on Church Street.

Gravity Games 2019: Everything You Need To Know

The Gravity Games is an education initiative intended to inspire Georgia’s prep students to use STEM-related skills and ideas to build gravity-powered vehicles. The Gravity Games have commenced in Douglas County, site of one of Google’s global data centers, for the past four years.
 
There will be food vendors on hand as well as Science Street, a STEM exhibit with hands-on activities for kids.
Here is the schedule:
  • Saturday, November 2, 2019
  • Registration begins at 7:30am
  • Remarks begin at 9am
  • Racing begins at 9:15am
  • Award ceremony is tentatively scheduled for 2pm

In addition to more than 65 student teams, luminaries on hand will include Rochelle Robinson, City of Douglasville, Mayor; Romona Jackson Jones, Douglas County Commission, Chairman;  Trent North, Douglas County School System, Superintendent; Richard Segal, City of Douglasville, Mayor Pro Tem; Lilyn Hester, Google, Head of Public Affairs – Southeast; Russell Bonds, Google, Data Center Facility Manager.
