Georgia Tech is set to announce the winners of the third class of its Smart Communities Challenge. The program is designed to spur local development in Atlanta and around the state.
The way the program works is that community winners get funding along with a partnership with a Georgia Tech research team and more.
Georgia Smart Communities Challenge: And The Winners Are…
The program welcomes communities of any size in Georgia to apply for technical and financial assistance that enables them to envision, explore, and plan for their “smart” future.
Georgia Tech President Ángel Cabrera will announce the the winners of the 2020 Georgia Smart Communities Challenge during a virtual event on Thursday, August 6.
Dr. Cabrera will also take part in a panel discussion, entitled Georgia Inclusive Innovation, that will include the following participants:
- Geoff Duncan, Lieutenant Governor, State of Georgia
- Wendell Dallas, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Georgia Power
Doug Hooker, Executive Director, Atlanta Regional Commission - Maria Thacker Goethe, President and CEO, Georgia Bio; CEO, Center for Global Health Innovation
- Aarti Tandon, CEO, Smart City Expo Atlanta | Moderator
The Georgia Smart Communities Challenge will also be live tweeted at @GTScii.
