Georgia, Alabama Game To Go On With These Adjustments

The University of Alabama has adjusted gameday operations for Saturday’s football game against Georgia due to anticipated severe weather from Hurricane Isaias, while confirming that the game itself remains scheduled as planned.

UA Gameday issued the notice Thursday, urging fans to review changes to tailgating, parking, shuttle service, and pregame activities before traveling to Tuscaloosa. Kickoff is still set for 6:30 p.m. CT at Bryant-Denny Stadium and is scheduled to air on ABC. This is a real test to the Georgia Bulldogs’ schedule.

The adjustments come as Hurricane Isaias is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and a flood risk to Central Alabama. Tuscaloosa is under a Tropical Storm Watch, and a flood watch is in effect from Friday night through Saturday night. Forecasters have warned of gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and the possibility of flash flooding and isolated severe weather over the weekend.

Tailgating

Personal tailgating will not be permitted on campus before noon Saturday. After noon, personal tailgating will be allowed only in uncovered areas, and only if conditions permit.

No tailgate drop-offs or setups will be allowed anywhere on campus Friday. Supplies placed on campus before noon Saturday will be removed and discarded. Corporate tailgating vendors, including Gameday Done Right, will not set up on the Quad because of the forecast for severe weather and high winds overnight Friday.

Fans may enter the Quad and other campus gathering areas after noon, but only after those areas have been inspected and cleared as safe. Electrical and power service on the Quad will not be restored until officials determine conditions are safe. The university said operations could be delayed further if the weather warrants it.

Parking and shuttles

Campus parking lots and shuttle service are scheduled to open at noon Saturday. Fans who try to park on campus before lots officially open will be turned away. Shuttle buses will begin running once lots open, unless sustained winds force additional delays.

Parking pass holders who bought through Clutch! will receive direct updates if plans change. Visitors using off-campus lots are advised to check with those operators for possible schedule changes.

Pregame activities

All activities on and around the Quad have been canceled, as have Champions Lane events. The Friday evening announcement at Gorgas Library marking the close of the Rising Tide 2.0 capital campaign has also been canceled. The Elephant Stomp is not currently planned.

The Walk of Champions is still expected about two and a half hours before kickoff, weather permitting.

College GameDay

ESPN’s College GameDay will broadcast from inside Coleman Coliseum rather than outdoors, airing from 8 to 11 a.m. CT. Overnight camping and queuing outside the arena will not be allowed. Fans may begin lining up at the north and east doors at 5:15 a.m. CT, with doors opening at 5:30 a.m. Only clear bags will be permitted and will be inspected on entry. The show’s field-goal contest will also be held inside the coliseum.

University officials said conditions and operations could still change as the storm develops. Fans are asked to follow University of Alabama News, UA Gameday, and UA Safety channels for updates on weather, parking, tailgating, and other gameday plans before traveling to Tuscaloosa.
