Come join the NAACP Economics Department for the first HER Idea Summit in Atlanta, Georgia! This will be an interactive 2.5 day summit focused on Black female millennial entrepreneurship. Black women are the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs, but too often than not access to capital, business networks, and training act as deterrents.Over the course of HER Idea, you will hear from millennial entrepreneurs, digital media experts, and venture capitalists about their pathways to success. Why should we support? Currently in America, Black people have the highest rates of poverty, of homelessness, of joblessness, of crime, and imprisonment. However, Black people spend more money than any other ethnic group, with an annual purchasing power of $1.3 Trillion. Of all these funds, less than 2% is spent within the Black community. Every ethnic community in America has managed to keep their money circulating among themselves for days and weeks, yet the Black dollars is reported to leave our community within 6 hours. Furthermore, those businesses that we spend our dollars with have historically and more recently direspected and devalued our patronage. Our goal with the We Buy Black movement is to ensure our dollars circulate at the rate equal or better than all other ethnic communities here in America, and to also ensure our future generations have a decent life and well-being.

The Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter’s Debutante Cotillion Program recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of qualified high school juniors and seniors. The event is slated for Saturday, November 10, 2018 and runs from 6–11:00 PM EST.
The debutantes participate in educational workshops and cultural events as well as community service projects. These activities are geared to enhance their personal growth as they transition into womanhood.
This comprehensive eleven month program is designed to educate, enlighten and empower young women and the culminating event is an Evening of Elegance.
This year marks the Chapter’s 14th Biennial Cotillion and it is with pride that we will formally present 30 young ladies to society.

This week is turning into quite the foodie holiday around Atlanta. Just in time for Dia de los Muertos, El Super Pan is bringing back their beloved El Burro Pollo pop-up.
Beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1 at their Ponce City Market and Battery locations, El Super Pan will be serving dishes such as Pozole Rojo, Mexican Tuna Escabeche, Barbacoa Tacos, and more.
Mexican beers and craft cocktails will be poured throughout the night, featuring a Paloma made with tequila blanco and grapefruit soda, a Michelada with lager, spicy tomato, and chipotle soy, and Santa Muerte, made with mezcal and Campari. The full food menu can be found below:
