Atlanta-based filmmaker Tyler Perry has a new Netflix movie in the pipeline and this one’s close to his heart. A Jazzman’s Blues is the title of the film, which was shot at his namesake studio in southwest Atlanta.
Perry said it has taken almost 30 years for the story to be told.
“I wrote it in 1995. It was the first screenplay I ever wrote,” he recently told People Magazine. “The two characters are just trying to find their own way in the world. Initially, I wanted to play the lead role of Bayou, but that was 1995 — I aged out.”
Perry On Actors Who Turned Down His Roles
Perry said that some of the actors he originally wanted for the project didn’t have enough faith in him.
“Unfortunately with this film, I went to a bunch of up-and-coming young artists who were getting a lot of attention and I asked them about doing the role. They read the script, they loved the script, but I think there was a reservation or hesitation about working with me in particular on this film, because I guess they didn’t know how it would turn out,” he told People.

I was hungry, sleeping on my cousin’s couch, eventually getting put out and being homeless. I was trying to get my first play off the ground, and this screenplay just poured out of me,” Perry is quoted as saying. “I held onto it for all of these years.”

DC has released the promotional poster for Black Adam, the anti-superhero flick starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Black Panther 2 Wakanda Forever has resumed casting in Atlanta, Georgia, after several stoppages. The movie, which is expected to be an instant blockbuster, has experienced setbacks, most recently a COVID outbreak which paused filming momentarily.

In Concert Productions (ICP), an Atlanta-based company, announced that it is opening The ICP Production Centre, a 30,000 square-foot, one-stop-shop for entertainment industry production equipment and gear.
ICP: New Movie & TV Production Hub Opening In Atlanta
The facility’s focus will be on set design, staging and dry-hire broadcast.
A/V rentals, ICP, All Access, ATOMIC and SoCal Rentals are also in on the deal and hope to serve the metro Atlanta film market like never before.
The development will make it easier for big-budget productions to have their events in one place as well as take care of their hardware and software needs.
“Knowing that LA, NY, and worldwide based producers and tech managers needed familiar names and the type of guaranteed service they were accustomed to, ICP brought together friends in the industry under one roof,” said ICP CEO Jay Rabbit. “9 times out of 10, we were all working together on the same productions anyway – so, now we can share sales, support personnel, transportation resources, shared rental equipment, warehouse staff and other vital resources to guarantee a product that is expected.”

Filming for Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever has resumed once again after being shut down for a while in Atlanta. The last shutdown was reportedly due, to a COVID-19 outbreak among the cast members.
According to IGN, several actors, including Lupita Nyong’o, tested positive, leading to a pause in production.
The break, which lasted several days in accordance with COVID health protocols, came only days after the set resumed due to the holidays and serious injury to Letitia Wright, who suffered an on-set accident last fall.
With all the stoppages, Black Panther 2 is still trying to regain its momentum to finish production in Atlanta.
Nevertheless, the film continues to build excitement and looks to be yet another blockbuster movie for Marvel Studios.
Meanwhile, the film’s storyline, as you know, has decided to steer clear of depicting Chadwick Boseman after his untimely passing in August 2020.
One cast member, Angela Bassett has told media that there has been at least five different scripts for Black Panther 2.
“I don’t know what it’s going to look like at all. There have been about five incarnations of the script and I hear another one’s coming. Of course, with our dear king going on to glory, a lot of things had to be shifted and changed, so thankfully, Ryan [Coogler] and Joe Robert Cole, they’re just such masterful storytellers that they’ve found a way into this world and hopefully it will be satisfying, I think, for the fans and it will be honorable of our Chad. We love our king.”
Marvel Studios has revealed that Black Panther 2 will be released on July 8, 2022. The film also now has an official name: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
What Is The Plot of Black Panther Sequel?
One of the biggest surprises we’ve learned so far is that Narcos star Tenoch Huerta has been cast as Namor and that the plot involves the Sub-Mariner’s home of Atlantis. But whether he’s a villain or not remains to be seen.
As for what the plot will be, a logline has already leaked online, courtesy of The DisInsider. Here’s what it says:
Both Wakanda and Atlantis are hidden civilizations with advanced technology and increased militaristic abilities that decided to separate themselves from the rest of the world for their own safety, and in a way, out of fear. Wakanda feared that their technology would be abused. Atlantis feared that surface dwellers would come and desecrate the mythical city just as they did so many years ago. Wakanda is the only county in the world with access to vibranium. However, rumors of its power spread throughout the world, and Namor’s human father was sent searching for this rare material in Antartica…
