If you’re an aspiring tech professional, then the orange apron wants you! Atlanta-based Home Depot is going on a hiring spree in spring 2018.
The nation’s largest home improvement store is looking to hire 1,000 tech professionals at its primary technology centers in Atlanta, Austin and Dallas.
The added staff is needed for the company to reach new investment goals announced late last, including advanced software engineering, system engineering, UX design and product management. That means you won’t actually be wearing an orange apron, as they do in the retail stores.

A new player has joined Atlanta’s film industry. The Hassan Group, a company formed by serial entrepreneur couple, Hamdy and Angie Hassan, announced this week that they have formed a new business division focused on arts and entertainment.
With Georgia’s strengthened position in the TV and film industry, the metro area has become a mecca for entertainment businesses. The Hassan Group hopes to capitalize on this by focusing on original TV and reply management.
Hassan Group starts entertainment division
Indie director/producer couple Kareem and Michelle Davis will join the Hassan Group as partners to head the new division.
“We wanted authentic people as partners. Someone that has proven that not only can they fall but get back up again. All and all, I can see us in the Davis’, no matter how hard life tries to knock them down, they just keep coming. We’ve seen their mistakes and mishaps, but we’ve also seen their drive and growth. Those are the type of people I want as partners!” said Hamdy Hassan, CEO of Hassan Group.
The new arts division of the Hassan Group will start off by made-for-TV content acquired from indie filmmakers. Meanwhile, Reply Management will be a boutique agency that will take on only 10 talents every three years.

Midtown Atlanta’s venerable Krog Street Market is in new hands. Asana Partners, a real estate investment firm that specializes in high-profile properties, recently announced the acquisition of Krog Street Market as well as Atlanta Stove Works. The sale has gone through, it was announced Monday.
Both buildings are located at Atlanta’s Inman Park neighborhood. Behind Ponce City Market, Krog Street Market is Midtown’s shining example of a dining hall and destination food model.
Investment firm buys Krog Street Market
“This investment deepens our commitment to Atlanta and expands our portfolio of authentic, walkable retail properties largely centered along the Atlanta BeltLine,” said Brian Purcell, Managing Director at Asana Partners.
Both the market and Stove Works are near one of the hottest trails in the city, the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail, where thousands of people traverse during the week.
“Acquiring Krog Street Market and Atlanta Stove Works fits our strategy of investing in urban shopping and dining locations that are closely connected to their surrounding neighborhoods,” added Purcell. “These assets complement our collection of neighborhood retail properties in Atlanta including the Plaza on Ponce and Glenwood Park retail.”
