New York: Residents Visiting From These 16 States Must Quarantine For 14 Days

    2 Min Read

The New York-New Jersey area has mandated that residents visiting from 16 states must quarantine upon entry, according to officials. The new rules are designed to stem the coronavirus pandemic.

COVID-19 cases have been on the rise in a majority of states, which has alarmed public health officials. As a result, the New York area, including Connecticut and New Jersey have issued a mandatory quarantine for visitors from states with an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Residents From These States Must Quarantine In NY-NJ Area

Here are the states identified by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo whose visiting residents must quarantine if they come to the Northeast:

The mandatory 14-day quarantine now includes travelers from:

    • Alabama
    • Arizona
    • Arkansas
    • California
    • Florida
    • Georgia
    • Iowa
    • Indiana
    • Louisiana
    • Mississippi
    • North Carolina
    • Nevada
    • South Carolina
    • Tennessee
    • Texas
    • Utah

Cuomo said, those violating the quarantine could be subject to a judicial order and mandatory quarantine, and fines are $2,000 for the first violation, $5,000 for the second violation, and $10,000 if you cause harm.

Not a single case met the criteria for reopening according to the nation’s top public health expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

Masks have also become a hot-button issue, as many Americans violently oppose wearing facial protection.

CDC health officials recommend that anyone with symptoms self-quarantine for 14 days. If you feel sick, here are the new COVID-19 symptoms to know about.

Officials Seek Suspect In Wendy’s Fire At Atlanta Protest

    2 Min Read

After a woman was taken into custody and charged in the Wendy’s fire during the June protest in Atlanta, officials are now looking for a male suspect.

The Atlanta Fire Department released photos of the suspect at the scene of the protest outside Wendy’s on June 9. The unrest was in response to the officer-involved killing of Rayshard Brooks.

“Fire Investigators are seeking the public’s help to identify the person seen in these photos,” the fire department tweeted. “We believe they may have vital information related to the Wendys Fire investigation. Please call 1-800-282-5804 or 404-547-TIPS(8477) to provide information. Rewards of up to $10,000.”

Meanwhile the Wendy’s has become a makeshift shrine and gathering place for the community. Many people have cardoned off the area and made it a no-passing zone.

Protesters are also reportedly demanding that White be released out of custody, although she is scheduled to be arraigned in the coming days.

  • Woman Suspected Of Setting Wendy’s Ablaze Arrested In Metro Atlanta

    3 Min Read

    Who is Natalie White?

That’s the question that Atlanta investigators want to know after images of the woman were released by authorities over the past week.

White was arrested outside the law offices of her attorney on June 23 and booked with first-degree arson, according to the AJC.

“Our GCSO Fugitive Unit’s hard work paid off today when they located Natalie White today and notified US Marshals/Fulton Co Sheriff Fugitive Unit, who made the arrest. Great team effort!,” the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office tweeted. “We appreciate ATLFireRescue‘s great investigation, which led to the ID of this suspect.”

So far, police believe Natalie White is one of the people who started the massive fire at the Wendy’s restaurant on University Avenue on June .

That’s the day that people filled the streets after a police officer shot and killed Rayshard Brooks.

There was also a $20,000 reward for anyone with more information about the woman, according to police. It is unclear whether anyone will get to claim the money.

While the arrest brings to a close one of the more mysterious aspects of the unrest in the wake of the Brooks killing, many questions still remain about White.

Here’s What We Know About Natalie White So Far

The Atlanta Fire Department tweeted this announcement on June 20: “An arrest warrant has been issued by Atlanta Fire Investigators for Ms. Natalie White. She has been identified as a suspect in the arson fire that burned down the Wendy’s Restaurant (125 University Ave) on Saturday, June 13th. Call 404-577-TIPS or 1-800-282-5804 with any info.”

Police have released tons of footage of the Brooks arrest and subsequent shooting. In the dialog, Brooks can be heard telling an officer that “Natalie White” is his girlfriend.

“Natalie White, she’s my girlfriend … I can call her now,” he tells officer.

Could it be the same Natalie White? This is something that detectives are trying to figure out.

Meanwhile the Wendy’s has become a makeshift shrine and gathering place for the community. Many people have cardoned off the area and made it a no-passing zone.

Protesters are also reportedly demanding that White be released out of custody, although she is scheduled to be arraigned in the coming days.

Tyler Perry To Pay For Rayshard Brooks Funeral In Atlanta

    2 Min Read

Atlanta movie mogul Tyler Perry says he will pay for the funeral of Rayshard Brooks, the 27-year-old  man who was shot to death by a police officer Friday at a Wendy’s restaurant.

The news comes not from Perry, but rather the attorney of the Brooks family, who announced it to reporters Monday.

In addition to paying for Brooks’ funeral, Perry has also offered to pay for the college educations of his children: Blessing, 8, Memory, 2, Dream 1, and stepson Mekai, 13.

Perry is no stranger to kind acts in the city and other places. Last spring he paid for the groceries of hundreds of senior citizens and several Kroger and other stores in Atlanta and New Orleans.

The filmmaker recently restarted production at Tyler Perry Studios, instituting a strict health protocol to guard against COVID-19.

Among the many restrictions is that all crew and actors must stay on site for the entire time they are filming. See the rest of the rules here.

Meanwhile, protests continued another day in Atlanta, which has been the center of a firestorm in the aftermath of the shooting. Police Chief Ericka Shields resigned and the officer who shot Brooks was fired at the behest of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.

Authorities also continue to look for a woman who appeared to start the fire at the Wendy’s restaurant on University Avenue.

There are also reports that nearly 20 Atlanta police officers have resigned amid reports that morale is near rock bottom after the recent events in the city.

  • Reward for woman who set fire at Atlanta Wendy's during protest

Atlanta Police Are Looking For Suspects Who Set Fire To Wendy’s

    3 Min Read

The Atlanta Police Department has raised the reward to $20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the people seen starting a fire at a Wendy’s restaurant at 125 University Avenue.

Atlanta police believe that there was more than one person involved in the fire, but two woman were caught on video.

The Atlanta Fire Department believes more people may have been involved.

If you have any information on the firestarter, Call 404-577-TIPS (8477) or submit information online to Crime Stoppers.

The authorities also released new images of a woman who they say started the fire. The new photos show a woman who appears to be Caucasian in a store hours before the protests.

The reward increase is indicative of how significance the case has become. Former Police Chief Ericka Shields told reporters when the protests first occurred that investigators found that many of the protesters, especially the agitators, were not from Atlanta.

Concerns have grown that instigators have joined many of the protesters for reasons not yet clear. When damage is done, many protesters have tried to identify those who have vandalized property and caused destruction.

People gathered at the Wendy’s for a second day in the wake of a police homicide that was caught on video. The gathering site was the Wendy’s restaurant on the city’s south side.

The previous day, large plumes of smoke bellowed from the Wendy’s at University Avenue and Pryor Road late Saturday and into Sunday as protesters sent a message to the powers that be.

The protests, which have been happening every night, took on renewed significance after Atlanta police shot down Rayshard Brooks after a brief struggle.

Late into the night, Atlanta police were trying to get protesters to leave the scene. Many of them showed up outside a police precinct in nearby Grant Park.

Video released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation showed that Brooks was tased by two officers then wrestled with them on the ground before emerging with the taser and trying to run.

He was shot in the back three times and died a short time later.

The already explosive atmosphere reached fever pitch immediately as people congregated around the Wendy’s where the slaying happened.

As public pressure mounted, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced that Police Chief Ericka Shields would resign so that the police force could start to rebuild with a fresh face at the helm.

Bottoms also called for the immediate termination of the officer who killed Brooks.

Later in the night, protesters marched onto the highway and shut down one side of Interstate 75, where they stopped traffic.

Voter Frustration As Georgia Precincts Experience Technical Difficulties

    2 Min Read

A number of voting precincts in Georgia, especially around Atlanta in Fulton, Gwinnett and DeKalb counties, experienced massive technical difficulties on Tuesday.

As a result, the Georgia Secretary of State opened an investigation into voting problems.

Frustrated voters filed complaints and disgusted officials took to social media to decry the problems, which work to suppress voter expression.

Many of them aimed their ire at Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who many feel suppressed the vote the last time elections were held.

Here are some of the videos on social media that illustrate what voters have had to endure:

With voting machines down, many people were directed to use provisional ballots.

In DeKalb, voters were asked to report election issues to the DeKalb Board of Voter Registration & Elections at 404-298-4020.

On Twitter, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms summoned election officials to handle problems being reported to her by voters in real time.

“Voters in line at Ralph Bunche precinct, one of the largest in Atlanta, say NONE of the machines are working. Please address this ASAP,” she tweeted.

Atlanta Stolen Tanks? What We Know

    2 Min Read

Atlanta has been one of the cities rocked by protests amid the police officer-induced death of George Floyd. In a viral video on social media, tanks appear to be commandeered by civilians in Atlanta.

The video shows people on a tank in what looks like some Atlanta projects. Although variations of the video claimed that it was recorded in East Atlanta, many social media users said it was actually taken in southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta Stolen Tanks? Here’s What We Know

According to musings on social media, the tanks are not from any militarized force on American streets. They also aren’t from protesters, which have marched nightly through the city.

Speculation on social media indicates that the tanks were part of a music video being shot on location. AtlantaFi.com was not able to confirm this information.

In any event, the tanks don’t appear to be stolen, so that’s the good thing.

Nonetheless, tanks on an Atlanta street have raised more than a few eyebrows, especially against the backdrop of the president advocating the U.S. military to “dominate” lawful protesters in U.S. cities.

  • Mayor Establishes Atlanta Curfew To Stop Riots

    Atlanta’s Protests Extend Another Night

    5 Min Read

A visibly exhausted Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms established a curfew for Atlanta one day after violent protests and looting erupted in the city.

Bottoms put the measures in place after protesters vandalized several buildings in downtown Atlanta, including CNN Center, where the restaurant McCormicks & Schmicks is located.

Protesters gathered downtown to draw attention to the violent death of George Floyd, who was killed by a Minneapolis police officer. The incident was caught on camera and has ignited protests throughout the nation.

In Atlanta, a protest that was advertised as a peaceful movement that would observe social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic turned chaotic as night fell.

    Atlanta protest flyer

What Are The Atlanta Curfew Hours?

The mayor of Atlanta signed an Executive Order for a citywide curfew from 9 p.m. to sunrise the next morning.

A couple of demonstrators jumped on a police car and as officers pulled away, the vehicle was set afire and engulfed in flames moments later.

In one tense moment, an officer was seen shoving a bike onto a woman, which was quickly exposed by the crowd.

In a plea for calm, Bottoms evoked billionaire and CNN founder Ted Turner to ask protesters to go home.

“You’re not honoring the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement. You’re not protesting anything with bricks in your hand breaking windows in this city,” Bottoms said.

She also brought out rapper T.I. and Killer Mike, who both told protesters to keep the peace and resist the urge to turn violent.

“If you sit in your homes tonight instead of burning your homes to the ground, you will have time to properly plot, plan, strategize, organize znd mobilize in an effective way.”

But after those speeches, small fires broke out across the street from CNN Center at Centennial Olympic Park.

As news cameras kept pace with the demonstrators, the crowds started to die down. SWAT team police began to mobilize as well to move people back toward the park.

But unbeknownst to the authorities, the protesters began to make their way to Buckhead, the richest area of the city. They would descend on the Lenox Square area, choosing to break into Phipps Plaza across the street.

Social media video showed people running up to the glass doors, looking to breach them.

Protesters also showed up in the Lindbergh area, vandalizing the Target there and looting items from the store.

Meanwhile, in Phipps Plaza, looters commandeered a vehicle inside the mall and were able to break into several upscale stores, including Gucci and Dior.

As a result, Bottoms instituted a curfew, saying Saturday afternoon that the protests — which she knows quite a lot about as a native Atlantan — were different this time around.

“When I saw the people out today cleaning up our city and our crew were out there, that felt like Atlanta to me,” she said. “This shouldn’t have been about police cars burning… this is about lives being lost.”

“What it felt like to me today was we are the city that cities across this country only wish that they could be, which is why last night I said we are better than this as a city and we’re better than this as a country,” she said.

What started out as a peaceful demonstration, quickly turned into mayhem and unnecessary destruction, and ultimately an assault on businesses that are already struggling to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Bottoms remarked.

“This was a highly calculated terrorist organization,” Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields pointedly said, noting that many of the protesters were out-of-towners.

In Gwinnett County at Sugar Mills Mall, throngs of protesters emerged as authorities met them with a show of force on a beautiful Saturday.

Meanwhile, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp ordered 1,500 National Guard troops to protect the city’s structures and monuments as tensions continued to rise for a second night.

Late Saturday disturbing video emerged from downtown Atlanta, which saw officers bust the windows out of a vehicle, pulled the passenger out and tase the driver.

The occupants of the vehicle were later identified as a Spelman and Morehouse student.

On Sunday, demonstrators took to the streets for a third straight day after more damage to buildings the night before.

On Sunday, May 31, Bottom announced that the officers involved in the tasing of a Spelman and Morehouse student were fired from the force.

Hours later, one of the officers involved emerged on social media, explaining how he actually showed “compassion” for the driver, who he said he helped to safety.

The officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly 9 minutes is at this moment facing third-degree murder charges.

Protesters and many people around the nation are agitating for the other three officers to be charged in Floyd’s death as well.

How Much Does It Cost To Join LA Fitness In Atlanta?

The exact cost of membership at LA Fitness varies slightly depending on whether you have signed up under a special or not. I have a Multi-Club and multi-state membership that costs $29.99 a month.

The $29.99 membership allows you to go to multiple LA Fitnesses in your city and across the nation.

For $26.99 a month, you can get membership to a single LA Fitness.

I had to pay a $99 initiation fee for that though. For single club access, you can get a membership for about $25 a month.

    History

The reason is because, if you’re like me, you need to know where you can workout, train or just play basketball around the city.

What would become LA Fitness was first named Rainbow Nautilus. It was founded by Chin Yi and Lisa Maria Novins in 1983. In Covina, just outside Los Angeles, California, the name change stuck and LA Fitness took off.

If you’re looking for a gym that has it all, LA Fitness is it!
