French fashion designer Pierre Cardin is the subject of a fashion exhibition put on by Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). It opens this week and will run until Sept. 30.
The retrospective SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film exhibition focuses on Cardin and his futuristic designs.
SCAD FASH Focuses On Pierre Cardin’s Futurism
Describing his principal philosophy, Cardin explained, “The clothes I prefer are the garments I invent for a lifestyle that does not yet exist — the world of tomorrow.” The exhibition celebrates Cardin’s spirit and vision, both unwaveringly inspired by the future.
“Pierre Cardin has always been a futurist, and innovative thinking has served as the cornerstone of his immense career success. What better way to celebrate his legacy as a pioneer of design and business practice-in fashion, global commerce, art, architecture, advertising, entertainment-than a newly curated exhibition of his work at SCAD, the world’s preeminent university for creative professions?” said SCAD president and founder Paula Wallace in a written statement.
Wallace added: “Come to SCAD FASH to see what Pierre saw. Come celebrate the man, the creator, the legend. Come step into the future he saw for us all.”
The exhibition is open to the public with the cost of museum admission. Admission is free for all museum members, as well as SCAD students, faculty and staff with a valid SCAD Card. For more information on the exhibition, visit scadfash.org.

One of the most revered horror cult comedy films of all time is having a showing in Atlanta in the coming days. “House” or more accurately, (ハウス “Hausu)” is a 1977 Japanese film of critical acclaim. On Thursday, it will play on the big screen at Atlanta’s oldest movie house, the Plaza Theater.
The movie, directed by eclectic filmmaker Nobuhiko Obayashi, centers on a schoolgirl who takes six of her classmates to her sick aunt’s rural home, where they each meet an untimely and supernatural death.
This is what Wiki says about the fear fest: “The film company Toho approached Obayashi with the suggestion to make a film like Jaws. Influenced by ideas from his daughter Chigumi, Obayashi developed ideas for a script that was written by Chiho Katsura. After the script was green-lit, the film was put on hold for two years as no director at Toho wanted to direct it. Obayashi promoted the film during this time period until the studio allowed him to direct it himself. The film was a box office hit in Japan but received negative reviews from critics. House received a wide release in 2009 and 2010 in North America, where it received more favorable reviews.”
“Hausu” is just the first in a series of cult films to be shown at the Plaza. Here are deets on the others. Get tix here.

Will Smith is currently in Georgia filming his latest film, “Gemini Man.” The producers are looking for some fresh faces for background roles as well.
Smith, fresh off the success of his first Netflix venture, “Bright,”recently took to social media to complain about the gnats in Savannah. Wearing a net mask, the actor said that he loved Georgia but “you gotta rock this,” he said, pointing to the mask.
As we previously reported the film will be directed by Ang Lee and has been around Hollywood for more than a decade in various versions. It is about an assassin who finally meets his match, actually a younger clone of himself.
“Previous drafts were penned by a revolving door of scribes that included Brian Helgeland, Andrew Niccol and David Benioff. Previously, Tony Scott considered directing as well as Curtis Hanson,” according to Deadline.com. “Skydance acquired the project in 2016 with Jerry Bruckheimer attached to produce with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Don Murphy and Chad Oman executive producing.”
Ha!! Big Will Smith is filming a movie in Savannah and apparently even the bugs are excited to see him. 😂 When you get finished come see us in Atlanta! Let's get it!! pic.twitter.com/OiiGscFQCg
