Atlanta is having a restaurant renaissance. Hot chicken is the rage in Atlanta’s dining scene right now. But so are chicken and waffles.
Fast-casual is also the dining trend du jour around metro Atlanta restaurants. The concept involves mixing the quick accessibility of fast food with the casual dining experience. Food in Atlanta is also adapting to the various tastes of the migrants that come here to live.

The death spiral for Bed, Bath and Beyond has begun in some respects. The company recently executed a plan as part of its bankruptcy that would make its shares on Wall Street worthless. That means its shareholders and investors will get nothing.
What makes the development even more puzzling is that Bed, Bath and Beyond still has assets totaling about $42 million.
What Will Happen To Bed, Bath and Beyond?
Bed, Bath and Beyond stores will likely go away at some point, but it’s no telling when that will happen. The brand itself will likely remain untouched or it may go away and transition to that of its new owners, Overstock.com.
In June 2023, when Overstock announced it was buying Bed, Bath and Beyond, it seemed to have a plan in place for continuation, but that is unclear now.
“This acquisition is a significant and transformative step for us,” said Overstock CEO, Jonathan Johnson. “Bed Bath & Beyond is an iconic consumer brand, well-known in the home retail marketplace. The combination of our winning asset-light business model and the high awareness and loyalty of the Bed Bath & Beyond brand will improve the customer experience and position the Company for accelerated market share growth.”
Final Word
As part of Overstock’s takeover, it has plans to re-launch the Bed Bath & Beyond domain in Canada and overhaul its website, app and loyalty program in the United States. The plan is for new and existing customers of both Overstock and Bed Bath & Beyond will experience a single online shopping destination. Will it work? We’ll see.

The Georgia Bulldogs beat the Auburn Tigers 27-20 on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023. Although the Dawgs’ offense didn’t produce much, Coach Kirby Smart relied on a stout second-half defense to lock in the win.
If you watch the Georgia Bulldogs, you’ll see a college football team trying to live up to its #1 ranking.
Georgia Gets Another Scare
Georgia continues to play just well enough to win the close games. After falling behind 14-3 to South Carolina last week, the Dawgs again played from behind early.
“We’re not going to get where we want to go if we don’t get better,” Smart said in postgame comments. “That’s the biggest thing.”
Georgia’s Run Defense Falters
Georgia’s normally stout front seven had trouble with Auburn’s offensive line, which opened up some huge lanes.
The Bulldogs gave up 219 yards on the ground, the most ever in Smart’s UGA tenure. Smart said he understood critics’ take on his defense, but he said that what they produced is par for the league today.
“I don’t think people respect playing on the road in the SEC as much as I do,” Smart was quoted as saying. “Being an SEC player, a veteran of this league, it is really, really hard to win on the road.”
Bowers Comes Up Big
Although Georgia could get little else going on the offensive end, they had all they needed in tight end Brock Bowers. He finished with four catches for 121 yards, including some major third downs.
Auburn Coach Hugh Freeze had nothing but praise for the Tigers, who jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but were slowed down in a big way after the first three quarters.
“I’m really proud of our kids, but it hurts in there right now,” Freeze said after the game. “And that’s good to see. It hurts. It hurts those kids and our coaches, and our fans I’m sure, too. You have a chance to beat the No. 1 team in the country — back-to-back national champions — at home. The feeling that you get if you can pull that off is just ecstatic.”
Final Play
With the win, the Bulldogs add a significant notch in its belt since many have said that Georgia’s schedule is not as strong as other contenders.
The Bulldogs (5-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) remained unbeaten in the SEC and still stake their claim to No. 1.

Prolific restaurateur Ford Fry is back in the kitchen cooking up another new Atlanta restaurant: Little Sparrow.
The eatery opened the last weekend to the general public. Little Sparrow hosted an “Opening Party” on September 30, 2023 at 7 p.m. Tickets are sold out.
Little Sparrow is joined by Bar Blanc, a French-inspired bar concept and another endeavor from Fry’s Rocket Farm Restaurants group.
“As I get older, I grow less inspired by restaurants that try too hard or let ‘interesting’ overtake ‘delicious’,” Fry said in a press release. “I am inspired by restaurants that cook food I want to eat. Little Sparrow will be a place to indulge in a refined dining experience or just grab a perfect medium-rare burger and fries.”
Little Sparrow will be housed in the space formerly occupied by Ford’s JTC Kitchen, which closed in 2021.
Where Is Little Sparrow Located?
Little Sparrow is located at 1198 Howell Mill Road in the Westside Provisions District.

Delta Air Lines knows that it stumbled badly when it announced big changes to who can access its Sky Club lounges.
Speaking at an Atlanta event this week, Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the announced changes have not been cleared for takeoff.
“No question, we probably went too far in doing that,” Bastian said on Monday at a Rotary Club of Atlanta meeting.
Earlier in the month, Delta announced sweeping changes to who can access its lounges and how elite status members could earn reward points. The changes were not too popular on social media.
“Our team wanted to kind of rip the BandAid off and didn’t want to have to keep going through this every year with changes and nickel and diming and whatnot, and I think we moved too fast.”
Elite status holders will have to wait and see what Delta does to retain Sky Club access for American Express card holders, who were to be shut out of the lounges in the new year.
“There will be modifications that we will make, and you will hear about it sometime over the next few weeks,” he went on to say.
Final Destination
Even with the changes, you can bet that Delta will still look to reward elite status members who earn a set number of MQDs and Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQM) or Medallion Qualifying Segments (MQS).
MQD earnings are tied to the cost of your ticket while MQM is based on miles flown.More Articles Like This:

The conference will bring thousands of attendees from around the world to Atlanta to discover, network and learn from the innovators, entrepreneurs, and artists that drive the culture forward.
The event, which began in 2005, has grown from being a music insider’s convention to a major music festival. It will feature workshops and other beneficial networking opportunities for aspiring and new artists.
When Will The A3C Festival & Conference In 2023?
The A3C Festival & Conference is a three-day in-person event in Atlanta this fall. The 18th Annual A3C Festival & Conference will take place from September 28-30, 2023.
The schedule for the event features numerous panels, workshops and discussions from everything from hip-hop culture to billion-dollar tech.
“Greenwood has a mission of supporting the culture by providing paths to financial freedom for minorities through community building, entrepreneurship, group economics and wealth building. We are pleased to be a strategic partner of A3C, which provides a platform to have important conversations about moving the culture forward,” said Ryan Glover, Co-founder and CEO of Greenwood. “The combined community of A3C, Greenwood, The Gathering Spot, and Valence is a powerful collective that will come together to celebrate Hip Hop, Atlanta, and the path to Black wealth creation.”
“Atlanta’s influence is felt everywhere. We have an authentic, powerful convergence of culture, music, tech, finance & entrepreneurship,” said Dr. Paul Judge, technology entrepreneur and investor. “A3C is the event that brings these diverse communities together for inspiration and innovation. Marvel Studios has had an outstanding working relationship with Atlanta, Georgia, when it comes to film production. We have no reason to believe that won’t continue with Avengers: Secret Wars, the new movie that will re-establish the company’s superhero franchise.
Here’s everything we know about Avengers: Secret Wars so far:
While much about the movie remains to be seen and planned, what we do know is that Avengers: Secret Wars is part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six and will follow Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
What Will Avengers: Secret Wars Be About?
The plot of Avengers: Secret Wars is yet to be divulged, but there is a fair amount of certainty that it will closely resemble the Secret Wars storyline from the epic comic book, which was a nine-issue miniseries. In that book, Doctor Doom and the Beyonders wreck havoc upon the Earth and the multi-verse.
Read the Secret Wars comic book.
When Will Avengers: Secret Wars Be Released?
Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in theaters on May 5, 2026. Of course, that’s barring any major strikes. Marvel has been known to tweak the dates on some movies and series, but this one seems firm.
The Cast: Who Will Be In Avengers: Secret Wars?
There has been much speculation online about what superheroes will be returning for Avengers: Secret Wars. What we know for sure is that Wesley Snipes has been tapped to reprise his role as Blade in the movie. Also in the movie will be:
- Anthony Mackie as Captain America
- Benedict Wong as Wong
- Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier/White Wolf
- Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror
- Tom Holland as Spider-Man
- Kathryn Newton as Cassandra Kang
- Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk
- Dominque Thorne as Ironheart
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
- Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
- Don Cheadle as War Machine
Will Iron Man Return In Avengers: Secret Wars?
So far, there is no word that Iron Man will return in Secret Wars. Marvel has made a concerted effort to turn to younger actors for its superheroes. It is highly unlikely that Robert Downey Jr. will be offered a contract to appear in a succession of new films.
Final Word
It remains to be seen whether Secret Wars will conclude Phase Six of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, but it just might. If so, you can bet the MCU’s top-grossing stars — along with Atlanta — will share the limelight once again down the road.
