The only thing better than getting money you know is owed to you is finding out about money that’s owed to you. And yes, there’s a chance that the state of Georgia owes you some money.
Unclaimed money from the state is one of the largest areas that people forget to check when they are in need. The fact is that state treasuries have millions of dollars in unclaimed money and people are unaware.
What Types Of Unclaimed Money Could Be Out There?
If you’re curious about what types of unclaimed money could be out there, here are some categories you need to know about.
- Missing Tax Refunds
- Old Checks From Defunct Businesses
- Old Accounts From Shuttered Banks And Other Financial Entities
- Retirement Accounts From Former Employers
How Do I Find Out If I Have Unclaimed Money In Georgia?
An unclaimed money search is something that you have to figure out. There’s no central federal government agency that keeps track of the unclaimed money it has for you or funds that you may be owed.
There are however some websites that allow you to check to see if you have unclaimed money.
The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) facilitates Unclaimed.org, a multistate database for unclaimed money. Here’s the link for Georgia.
- Start your search for unclaimed money with your state’s unclaimed property office.
- Use the missingmoney.com is another site that has a multistate database that lets you do a free search for your name for bank accounts, safe deposit box contents, uncashed checks, insurance policies, CDs, trust funds, utility deposits, stocks and bonds, wages and escrow accounts in Georgia or any state you’ve moved from. (You do have to register).
Another way to get money is by means of an unclaimed check. Let’s talk about that.
What Is An Unclaimed Check?
An unclaimed check can take many forms, but it may most likely be an uncashed payroll check. Think back to all the jobs you formerly had. They may have some unclaimed money for you!
Make sure you check your old employers as well as your maiden name to see if any residual checks are there for you.
Check Your Old Pensions
If you’ve worked a job in the past, you may have some unclaimed money out there in the form of a pension.
The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. keeps a database on all unclaimed pensions across the United States.
Go to the PBGC’s website to see if you have an old pension with money in it.
Beware Of Scams
The most important thing about unclaimed money is that crooks are trying to get ahold of it just like you.
There are a lot of sites out there that will ask you to pay a fee to do an unclaimed money search, but that’s a racket. Don’t pay anyone to search for your money. Do it at the sites above FOR FREE.
Final Words
Believe it or not, there are a lot of ways you can come into a windfall of money. One of the easiest ways is to see if the state of Georgia owes you money.
Getting your unclaimed money is a great way to generate much-needed capital in these days and times. The key is that you have to be persistent and leave no rock unturned, as they say.
Don’t let the red tape of the system intimidate you from getting what’s rightfully yours: Your hard-earned money.
Aside from cash, you may have some land you don’t know about. See how to get your unclaimed property.

In this article, we’re going to show you how to care for your hair by giving it some TLC.
How To Care For Your Natural Hair
Your follicles may be as easy breezy as a feather. Others may have coils as think as rope and /or somewhere in between. The point is that you — and I — are unique.
In this article, we’re going to explore some practical steps for you to care for your natural hair and get to the root of the matter.
In This Article:
- Find Out What Type Of Hair You Have
- Should You Braid Your Hair?
- Should You Straighten Your Natural Hair?
- What Are The Best Natural Hair Growth Products?
- How Often Should You Wash Your Hair?
Find Out What Type Of Hair You Have
The first thing you need to know before you can come up with a plan to care for your hair, is know what type of strains you have. What type of hair do you have?
Do you have 4C, 3C or what? Here are the different types of hair that are most common:
- Type 1 — Straight Hair
- Type 2 – Wavy Hair
- Then there are the subsets of hair — A through C — which are typical in describing curls
- A or 1C is more wider strains
- Type B or 2C is in between
- Type 3C is smaller, tighter coils
- Type 4C is even smaller
- The sub-classifications of A to C are based on the width or diameter of your wave, curl, or coil pattern. Type As have a wider pattern size, Type Bs medium, and Type Cs the smallest of the three.
Should You Braid Your Hair?
A lot of black women put braids in their hair when they run out of ideas. That’s not a sleight to braids or us, because let’s face it: There are some very good and creative styles of braids that look good on us.
When you decide to put braid in your hair, you have to make a choice. Do you use weave for 90% of it, or do you opt for basically 100% weave and just leave the only vestige of your own hair at its roots?
Another question to consider is the weight that braids will add to your head. There’s no way to say this, other than, you’r e going to feel it.
What Are The Best Natural Hair Growth Products?
Let’s be honest: We all want our hair to grow. But what are the best natural hair growth products? Here are some of the most highly rated growth products for natural hair:
1. Hairfinity Infinite Edges Hair Serum – Hair Growth Treatment To Stimulate Hair Follicles
2. Biotin Hair Growth Serum Advanced Topical Formula
3. FoliGROWTH Ultimate Hair Nutraceutical
- Majestic Pure Coconut Hair Mask
- Primal Hair Growth Vitamin
- Hairstart SX: Powerful Natural Hair Growth Vitamins
Should You Straighten Your Natural Hair?
If your growth is already at a sufficient length, you may want to straighten your natural hair. If you plan to wear an afro, then you wouldn’t necessarily look to straighten your hair, but if you want to wear it shoulder-length or close to it, you will want to press it.
Here are some of the best products to straighten your hair:
- Titanium Plated Landot Flat Iron
- Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron
- L’ange Hair Lustré Curling Wand | Titanium Barrel

How Often Should You Wash Your Hair?
One of the questions we most often ask hairstylist is this: “How often should I wash my hair?”
Personally, I wash my hair every three weeks, but that’s because I usually wear a long press. After researching this topic, here’s what I found: It depends on your hair type.
Here are some typical examples of when you should wash your hair based on your hair type:
- Type 4 hair then once to twice a week.
- If you have Type 3, then two to three times in a month is fine
A lot of it depends on whether your hair is damaged and by what degree. You will certainly know when it’s time to clean your hair when you get damage or if it gets so oily that you can’t style it as you like.
Final Word
Every now and then, it becomes make or break time for your natural hair — literally. It can be tough to come up with styles and hairdos that do a girl justice when it comes to natural hair, but it can be done.
The truth is that natural hair takes more time and energy than other types. Because it is what it is, you just have to deal with it.
The way one black woman’s hair behaves is totally different from how another’s may act. We’re all different and so approaches have to be various and through trial and yes, error. But you’ll get there.

Another arctic blast is headed toward the Southeast, meaning dangerously cold weather for Atlanta, Georgia for the second out of four weeks of the new year.
As to just how cold it’s actually going to get, there is much speculation.
The weather forecast for Atlanta over the next few days suggests that snow is a certainty, as some forecasts indicate. But with the frigid temperatures, the issue is how much snow?
How Cold Will It Be in Atlanta?
According to the Weather Channel, next Sunday through Wednesday will drop down to below freezing temperatures.
If you have an iPhone, it may show a snowflake icon next to Tuesday, which indicates snow.
But really it only indicates the possibility of snow.
Meteorologist Jennifer Valdez of Atlanta News First says it’s clear that a polar plunge is coming, but it becomes a matter of degree after that.
Ed Piotrowski with WABE says weather models are not definitive yet, so there’s no way to tell whether Atlanta will be hit with another winter storm.
Fox 5 Atlanta meteorologist Alex Forbes posted on social media that it’s just too early to know how the weather will shake.
“There is very little reliability in model data, which the app is using, beyond seven days. Even then, we only get confident usually within three days,” he said on X.com. “For the next several days, you are going to see meaningless ice and snow totals for North Georgia tossed around like no tomorrow. Truth be told, there is no guarantee that anything will happen. We had runs yesterday showing exactly that.”
He went on to say: “There is no meteorologist, or human for that matter, touching the forecast data that lives in the Apple Weather app. It is straight computer data that has proven to be maybe the worst on the market,” he said.
“I don’t usually ask you to share posts, but here’s an exception. Most people have this information on their phones this morning. So, please spread the word so that we don’t send the city into chaos and end up with everyone being confused,” he continued.
Bottom Line
Will Atlanta be cold? Yes. Is it still winter? Yes.
It’s recommended to keep an meye on the local weather updates as the week progresses for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
For detailed forecasts and updated weather conditions, you can check sources like the Weather Channel and yes, Fox 5.Final Word

Hammonds House Museum will kick off 2025 with the inspiring exhibition Sacred Space: Brandywine Workshop & Archive featuring the artwork of talented printmakers.
In the realm of printmaking, there exists a sacred alchemy where art, technique, and collaboration converge to create something truly magical. This exhibition invites guests to experience that magic, and it will be on view from January 24 through June 22, 2025. There will be an opening night reception on Friday, January 24 from 6:00-8:30 pm with the first opportunity to see the artwork. To RSVP, click HERE.
Sacred Space: Brandywine Workshop & Archive encourages a personal exploration of spiritual connection and invites viewers to reflect on the ancestral wisdom and memory passed down through generations. The exhibition serves as a portal into the interconnected realms of spirituality, time, space, memory, and culture.
“This exhibition, originally conceived at the Fairfield University Museum, has been reimagined and expanded at the Hammonds House Museum, much like a collaborative printmaking process where layers of creativity and vision are built upon to create something entirely new and dynamic,” states Halima Taha, Hammonds House Museum Artistic Chair. “While the Brandywine Workshop and Archives embraces global influences, this exhibition focuses primarily on American artists of African, Afro-Latino, and Indigenous descent. Here, in this historic West End home, the legacy of BWA intertwines with the cultural mosaic of the South, creating a unique dialogue between past and present.”
“Brandywine Workshop and Archives (BWA) has been a sacred space since 1972, a place where artists and master printers collaborate to transform ideas into works of art that embody voice, color, shadow, and resilience,” says Michele Parchment, Executive Director of BWA.
Artists whose works are featured in the exhibition include Rick Bartow, Alexandre Kyungu Mwilambwe, Mikel Elam, Sam Gilliam, El Anatsui, Curley Holton, Willie Cole, Xexobia Bailey, Janet Taylor Pickett, Kevin Cole, Michael Harris, James Phillips, and Arturo Lindsey.
The exhibition draws on the rich history of the Brandywine Workshop & Archives (BWA) which were founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1972 by artist Allan Edmunds. As of 2023, the Fairfield University Art Museum in Fairfield, Connecticut is home to a Brandywine “satellite collection,” one of only 18 in the US, including Harvard Art Museums and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Artworks for the Sacred Space: Brandywine Workshop & Archive exhibition are on loan to Hammonds House Museum from the Fairfield University Art Museum.
