If you know about the Hop City Craft Beer & Wine team, you know that fresh brews are in their blood. Their new concept, Boxcar, is about to do for food what Hop City does for beer in Atlanta. Boxcar is set to open on Friday, March 1, 2019.

The new Atlanta restaurant will open in the West End’s Lee + White development at 1020 White St. SW. Boxcar will join other establishments there such as Monday Night Brewing, Wild Heaven Beer, Honeysuckle Gelato and more.
Boxcar brewpub opens in Atlanta’s West End
Boxcar will be the second restaurant in metro Atlanta for the Hop City team. Inspired by urban freight train and railroad vibes, the establishment will be the style of grafitti chic. Gracing the walls will be a mural from well-known Atlanta artist Catlanta.
What’s on the menu at Boxcar?
Boxcar will specialize in well-made pub food i.e. neighborhood-friendly burgers, sandwiches and salads. For hearty eaters, large plates sourced from local farmers will be on the menu weekly.
Menu favorites will include: the “Lobstah Roll,” Yuzu Fried Chicken and Roasted Beet Carpaccio as well as elevated bar classics like the Soft Baked Pretzel and the Boxcar Beef Burger.
For craft beer heads, Boxcar will have a team of “beer nerds” to help patrons choose among 80 rotating draft choices at two different beer, wine and cocktail bars.
“Our retail space will be a little more curated on the beer side with closer to 1,000 choices compared to the 1,900 or so at our original Westside store,” Owner Kraig Torres said in a written statement. “It will still be the best our local, national and worldwide brewers have to offer…with a focus on freshness. You’ll also see a generous selection of small-production wines hand-picked by our equally-passionate wine team. We hope we have created a warm, friendly environment for enthusiasts of all things food and drink.”
Boxcar is a Lee + White development, the local company behind some of the Atlanta Beltline’s most successful food and beverage projects.
Boxcar joins a successful stable of Atlanta brewpubs under the Hop City umbrella, including Monday Night Brewing, Wild Heaven and Best End Brewpub.
Where is Boxcar located in Atlanta?
Boxcar is located in historic West End at 1020 White St. SW. Here is a map to help you find it.

Super Bowl LIII has drawn sports stars, celebrities and more to Atlanta for all types of events. One of the top happenings was the Power Sports Brunch, which took place Wednesday, Jan. 29 in Buckhead.
The Power Sports Brunch brought some major players to Davio’s Italian Steakhouse for a festive time. The event was presented by LPS Consulting PR & WISE Atlanta.
Power Sports Brunch: Celebrities, athletes talk empowerment in Atlanta
The brunch was a chance for powerful women to celebrate themselves but also remind each other that more progress is needed.
Amy Trask, former CEO of the Oakland Raiders, said that some businesses simply shouldn’t be around if they don’t provide an equal playing field.
“If a business does not hire without regard to race, gender, ethnicity, religion or any other individual characteristic, which has nothing to do whatsoever with whether a person can accomplish or succeed or achieve in business, well then that business deserves to fail.”
Those individualities I listed have no impact whatsoever on whether one can do a good job,” Trask said.
Veteran ESPN reporter Lisa Salters told AtlantaFi.com that representation makes a difference.
“In any aspect of life, it’s important to have diversity of voices. The more voices you have, the more inclusive you are, the better any product is going to be. Women watch sports, women participate in sports, women should be covering sports.”

Atlanta native Cam Newton is opening Fellaship, a restaurant and cigar bar in Atlanta’s Castleberry Hill neighborhood this weekend. The grand opening is set for Friday, Feb. 1, 2019 and will continue over Super Bowl weekend.

Cam Newton opens Fellaship restaurant & cigar bar
The restaurant’s name comes from the fellowshipping he and his family grew doing on Sunday afternoons accompanied by friends and his relatives.
“This is a dream come true for me, my brother CJ, my dad Cecil and others in my extended family,” said Newton. “To be able to come back to Atlanta to such a thriving business environment and start a business is just one way that I want to start giving back to my hometown that gave me my start and has been so good to me and my family. I’d like to thank the City of Atlanta, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and others for helping this dream become a reality.”
Fellaship will feature an all-day menu consisting of such dishes as Seared Scottish Salmon, Blackened Swordfish Penne Pasta, Butter-Roasted Lobster Imperial and more.
The restaurant and cigar bar will also introduce 404 Vodka, which was developed by longtime beverage producer and Atlantan Jeff Moses.
Newton, who led the Auburn Tigers to a college football national championship, tapped into his school ties to have Fellaship built. The establishment was designed and constructed by world-acclaimed and fellow Auburn alums Meyer-Davis Architects and Gary Nix of Nix-Unger Construction, whose father coached baseball at Auburn.
Adding to the all-star roster of alums on the project, MELT Chairman/Founder/CEO (www.meltatl.com) Vince Thompson, Auburn University Class of ’84, is partnering with Newton to co-produce the events for the weekend alongside Tony Conway’s Legendary Events.
“Working with Cam and CJ has been a dream come true,” said MELT Chairman/CEO and fellow Auburn alum Vince Thompson. “We look forward to having a great weekend of fun and activities with everyone who’s in town for the Big Game!”
In addition to the Friday grand opening, on Saturday, Feb. 2, the restaurant will host a “Welcome to the 404” event. On Super Bowl Sunday, the event will be titled “Best Seat in the House.”

Atlanta’s own Big Boi, one half of the legendary rap group Outkast, has been confirmed as the third big-name artist that will perform at the 2019 Atlanta Super Bowl.
Chloe and Halle has also been confirmed, joining Travis Scott joined the slim lineup, along with Maroon 5, as halftime performers for Sunday, Feb. 3 event. Soulstress Gladys Knight has been tapped to sing the national anthem.
Big Boi, Travis Scott, Maroon 5 to perform at Atlanta Super Bowl Halftime
The addition of Big Boi brings some much-needed ATL cred to the high-profile Super Bowl lineup, which has been somewhat controversial since it was announced.
Travis Scott received torrents of criticism online after the news was announced in late November. Actor Michael B. Jordan, who has been in Atlanta for much of the year filming, said that Travis Scott’s appearance at the Super Bowl would send a mixed message.
“We’re still trying to stand behind something,” Jordan told TMZ. He was referring to the NFL’s treatment of Colin Kaepernick.
Chloe & Halle join Super Bowl halftime show
Los Angeles-based Maroon 5, which is led by singer Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton, have all but signed the dotted line, the tabloid reports.
The Atlanta Super Bowl is set for February 3, 2019 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
To send a strong statement to the NFL, some artists have turned down the Atlanta Super Bowl, notably Cardi B, 2018’s hottest rapper.
Also, political commentator Al Sharpton blasted Travis Scott for his decision to perform. “You can’t fight Jim Crow and then sit in the back of the bus,” he said.
Maroon 5 will join such accomplished acts as Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, U2, The Who, Katy Perry and more as those who have rocked the crowd for the largest sports event in the world.
Maroon 5 was formed in 1994, going by the moniker Kara’s Flowers, but after years of starts and stops, the band rebranded as Maroon 5 in 2001. Mainstream success came soon after.
Some of the band’s hits include “Harder to Breathe,” “Makes Me Wonder” and “Moves Like Jagger.”
Atlanta is gearing up for several weeks of activities, culminating in the Super Bowl, where nearly 1 million people will converge on the city.
Last night, @adamlevine talked about how important it was to show fans how much they are appreciated. I am a living witness that @maroon5 ACTUALLY cares about their fans. Thank you for the Pit tickets and making a broke colleges students dreams come true
