Chalktoberfest, the primary event of the Marietta Museum of Art, will celebrate its fifth year at the 2018 event, which is set for October 13 & 14.
The event, which will feature established and new artists and award-winning professionals, will be held at Marietta Square and run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
Chalktoberfest 2018: Everything you need to know
The event drew more than 100,000 people last year, so organizers are looking to see even more. Chalktoberfest allows the Marietta Museum of Art to fulfill its mission of “Building Community through Art,” and never has that been more apparent than in recent years.
Accolades from years past include Chalktoberfest winning Festival of the Year by Cobb Life Magazine for 2016 and 2017, the Mayor’s Art Award for the city of Marietta, and Event of the Year through Cobb Travel and Tourism.
This year, attendees can expect to see artists from Italy, Mesopotamia, the Ukraine, Mexico and about 17 states in the United States.
MCMA encourages guests to dine at the local restaurants, which will be plentiful. You can also visit vendors and chat up professional artists who have come from around the United States to show off their wares.
Additional activities include a special after-hours concert in the park and on Sunday October 14, Chalktoberfest kicks off the Creative Kids Craft-Making Competition for children at 10 a.m. This non-professional Chalk Competition will feature youth of all ages. Winners will be announced.
