If you’re a single man or woman in a city like Atlanta, or even a small rural area, there’s a good chance you’re sick of Valentine’s Day.

A new study from Plenty of Fish says that  43% of singles say Valentine’s Day just brings too much pressure to their lives. In fact, one in five of those surveyed wished the holiday was canceled.

Study: Single People Are Done With Valentine’s Day

According to the study, the younger of an adult you are the more you pretty much hate Valentine’s Day. Here are some figures that bear that out:

  • 60% of Generation Z say they don’t like V-Day pressure
  • 52% of Millennials feel the same way

Among the reasons listed for wanting to cancel Valentine’s Day, those surveyed identified the biggest contributor as being pressure from society (58%) followed by the over-commercialization of the holiday (57%) and finally the overhyped social media posts (48%) on IG, Facebook, Twitter and other social media.

So here’s a question for the audience: Do YOU think Valentine’s Day is overblown? Please reply in the comments.
