We’re getting a little closer to the grand rebrand happening in downtown Atlanta. CNN Center, long the home of the world’s first 24-hour news network, is transitioning after Warner Bros Discovery made the decision to consolidate their offices on 10th Street.

CP Group, a commercial real estate management firm, has announced the repositioning of the iconic 1.2 million-square-foot CNN Center, now open for office and retail leasing under its new name, “The Center.” This mixed-use development aims to become a premier destination for retail, dining, content creation, and entertainment within downtown Atlanta’s entertainment district.

The Center Coming to Downtown Atlanta

The CNN Center complex, consisting of five buildings, includes the world headquarters of CNN, a 1,067-room Omni Hotel, and a popular atrium food court visited by local businesspeople, tourists, and attendees from nearby sports arenas and conference centers. It is strategically located in Atlanta’s central business district, near landmarks such as State Farm Arena, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia World Congress Center, and the World of Coca-Cola.

“CP Group’s rebranding of the former CNN Center into The Center seeks to create a cohesive destination for commerce, culture, and community, while respecting the building’s historic significance in media, sports, and entertainment,” stated Chris Eachus, Partner at CP Group. “Our vision includes curating an exceptional mix of dynamic tenants, dining and retail experiences, entertainment options, and upscale lifestyle amenities, designed to draw the community into the heart of the city.”

The evolution of The Center will focus on revitalizing the ground floor to attract retailers and innovative tenants interested in a historic and accessible site in a vibrant downtown area. This marks the first opportunity in 40 years for office users to lease space in this renowned property since CNN’s long-term occupancy.

Retail leasing will be managed by Coleman Weatherholtz of Healey Weatherholtz Properties, while Jeff Keppen and Nicole Goldsmith of CBRE are the exclusive office leasing agents for The Center. “CNN Center is internationally recognized, and we are in discussions with several new-to-market retail concepts to join the transformation of this legendary building,” added Weatherholtz.

Final Word

Just feet away from The Center will be Centennial Yards, an ambitious mixed development that takes adventage of the corridor below Centennial Olympic Boulevard with access around Mercedes Benz Stadium.
