It’s official: The NFL has announced that Atlanta will host Super Bowl LXII in 2028, with the game taking place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The news confirms what was reported three weeks ago and stamps Atlanta as a tourist destination.

The decision was revealed at the NFL Fall League Meeting in Atlanta after a review by the Fan Engagement & Major Events Committee and a vote by the full ownership.

“Atlanta is known for its hospitality, sports culture, and entertainment, making it a perfect choice for Super Bowl 62,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “Arthur Blank has played a transformative role in the Atlanta community and was pivotal in securing the bid. His dedication to sports and philanthropy has driven economic development and engagement in the area, and we look forward to working with him, the Falcons, and local partners to create an unforgettable experience for fans worldwide.”

This marks the fourth time Atlanta will host the Super Bowl and the second time at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with the last being in 2019.

“This is a tremendous honor for Atlanta and Georgia,” said Atlanta Falcons Owner Arthur Blank. “Thank you to the NFL for the trust placed in us to host again. Mercedes-Benz Stadium was built for events like this, and we are excited to bring the Super Bowl back to our city.”

Ahead of the big game, Atlanta will host a series of events, including NFL Honors, Super Bowl Experience, and Super Bowl Opening Night, along with community programs throughout the metropolitan area.

“We’re excited to welcome the Super Bowl back to Atlanta,” said Dan Corso, president of the Atlanta Sports Council. “No city is better prepared to host events of this scale, thanks to the continued support from our civic and business leaders.
