Today, Phipps Plaza is recognized as the number one luxury shopping, dining, and modern mixed-use destination in the Southeast. We are grateful to our community, staff, and retailers for their steadfast support over the years and invite everyone to join our fun-filled anniversary party on March 30th.”

When Did Phipps Plaza Open?
Phipps Plaza opened in 1969 and was named after its developer, John W. Phipps. It originally featured a mix of upscale shops and restaurants, including high-end department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor.
Over the years, Phipps Plaza underwent several renovations and expansions to keep up with the changing retail landscape and demands of its clientele. In the 1990s, the mall added a movie theater and expanded its retail space. In 2006, a major renovation added new upscale retailers, a luxury hotel, and condominiums, further solidifying its position as a premier shopping destination in Atlanta.
Today, Phipps Plaza continues to be a popular shopping destination, known for its high-end retailers, luxury boutiques, and fine dining options. It remains a landmark in Atlanta’s Buckhead district and a symbol of upscale shopping in the city.
