Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Gregg Leakes passed away after a mult-year battle with cancer, his publicist Earnest Dukes confirmed on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Greggs, 66, died “peacefully” in his metro Atlanta home with family around him, Dukes said in a statement.
Leakes was marred to Linnethia Monique Leakes, also known as NeNe. Stars from the hit reality TV show shared their condolences online for much of the day.
Gregg Leakes Dies At Age 66
Leakes, 66, suffered with colon cancer for the past few years. His last appearances on RHOA featured him going to doctor’s appointments and he and his wife adjusting to his treatment schedule.
In May 2019, his wife, NeNe, announced that her husband had beaten cancer. But it came back with a vengeance.
RHOA creator Andy Cohen expressed his sorrow on Twitter hours after the news was announced.
“I am heartbroken over the passing of Gregg Leakes, a wonderful man,” Cohen said. “I jokingly called him “Pastor Leakes” but in truth he was a strong voice of reason & commanded great respect among the entire #RHOA team. I am sending love and strength to nene leakes & the entire Leakes family.”
Reality TV producer Carlos King said, “My heart is broken. I loved Gregg Leakes very much and would address him as “father” because he was reality tv’s first father we all had. He loved his children and boy did he love some NeNe. They personally asked me to produce their wedding special b/c we were family. Rest,:”
