Atlanta will be one of the first markets to experience driverless Lyft vehicles for ridesharing in early 2025.

The announcement was recently made as part of a deal between May Mobility, autonomous driving (AD) technology company, and Lyft, one of the largest rideshare companies in North America.

When Are Driverless Rideshares Coming To Atlanta?

Their initial rollout is set for 2025 in Atlanta, featuring May Mobility’s Toyota Sienna Autono-MaaS vehicles. The companies share a goal of safe ridesharing in Atlanta.

This collaboration marks May Mobility’s first step into the rideshare sector, expanding its focus on innovative, autonomous transportation solutions. Together, the companies aim to create new mobility options that are both efficient and convenient.

The partnership will allow May Mobility to integrate its fleet into Lyft’s network, with plans to coordinate with local governments and communities to support a smooth and beneficial expansion for both riders and cities.

“This partnership with Lyft allows us to reach new markets, providing greater mobility access faster,” said Edwin Olson, co-founder and CEO of May Mobility. “Our goal is to improve city living for everyone.”

Planning for the first deployment is already underway, focusing on service areas, hours, fleet size, and other operational details. Initially, the vehicles will include safety operators, with a gradual transition to fully autonomous operation.

“We’re thrilled to bring May Mobility on board as an autonomous partner,” added Jeremy Bird, EVP at Lyft. “Soon, riders in Atlanta will enjoy an intuitive, autonomous ride option through the Lyft app.”

May Mobility’s vehicles feature patented Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology, which leverages AI to continuously interpret real-time data and adapt to complex driving conditions, providing a safer and more comfortable ride.
