Development and management company LMC announced this week that it has broken ground on Gentry, a luxury mixed-use apartment community in Buckhead.
The 21-story high-rise community, which will feature 290 apartment homes and 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, is being developed in conjunction with Hoar Construction. The companies recently collaborated on The Morris, a luxury apartment community in Nashville that opened in 2017. First move-ins at Gentry are anticipated for mid-2020.
“We’re excited to join the robust Buckhead market and get started on an apartment community that will be situated in the center of so many recreational activities,” said Chris Cassidy, division president of the Southeast for LMC. “With the vast shopping and dining options within walking distance, this will be a place where residents can ditch their cars for the weekend and relax within the neighborhood. With the stellar location, the remainder of the city will be at their fingertips, as well.”
Under construction at 3172 Roswell Road, Gentry is the redevelopment of a one-acre surface parking lot that will add 20-foot wide tree-lined sidewalks and street-level retail to an emerging neighborhood. The site, which boasts a Walk Score of 91, features prime access to attractions such as The Buckhead Theater, The Shops at Buckhead, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Atlanta History Center. Phipps Plaza and Lenox Mall, which offer various additional local and national retailers, are each within two miles of the community.
Gentry will provide near-direct access to several public transit options and the key thoroughfares of the city. The Buckhead MARTA station is 1.2 miles from the community and serves as the gateway to the metropolitan area. Georgia State Route 400? is situated one mile from the community and Interstates 85 and 75 are within a short drive.
“We’re thrilled to team with LMC on another development, particularly one in such a vibrant locale,” said Jason Bennett, division vice president for Hoar Construction. “Our co-development in Midtown Nashville was a resounding success, and we can confidently proclaim that Gentry will feature the same high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.”
Gentry will consist of studio, 1- , 2- and 3-bedroom apartment homes and a select number of penthouse-level homes with hardwood floors. Apartment interiors will contain high-end finishes, wood-plank style flooring, custom cabinetry and private balconies. Select homes will include kitchen islands and wine fridges.
Community amenities will include an eighth-floor terrace with grills and an outdoor movie theater, and a 21st-floor amenity level. The latter will include a private dining room and catering kitchen, lounge, pool table, swimming pool, indoor/outdoor bar, grills, cabanas and a club-quality fitness center with indoor/outdoor yoga. Residents will also have access to bike storage, electric-vehicle charging stations and work-from-home spaces.

Chick-Fil-A meal kits beginning with five meal options became available Monday, August 27 in metro Atlanta as part of a test market experiment, the chain said. The meals will be available through mid-November.
The meal kits have been designed to make it easy for customers to cook their own meals at home using fresh, pre-measured ingredients they can pick up in the drive-thru, at the front counter, or via the Chick-fil-A One app.
Chick-Fil-A meal kits: What to know
Chick-fil-A Chef and Atlanta Restaurateur Stuart Tracy had a big hand in developing five different kit recipes, which are easy to follow and prepare.
With the move, the Atlanta-based company is signaling its intentions to be the first fast-food restaurant to take on Blue Apron, which is a household name in the meal kit market. The meals include many of the favorites we’ve come to love about Chick-Fil-A, including crispy dijon chicken, but also new items such as chicken flatfread, chicken enchiladas and pan-roasted chicken.New menu options include:
- 30-Count Nuggets – The 30-Count Nuggets are available nationwide and can be ordered at the counter, through the drive-thru and via the Chick-fil-A Mobile App.
- Waffle Potato Chips – Previously only available on the catering menu, the kettle-cooked waffle cut chips are an alternate to our Waffle Fries and are gluten-free. Waffle Potato Chips can now be purchased as a side item to pair with any entrée (or Kid’s Meal) and are still available as side offering on the catering menu.
- Improved Fruit Cup – Based on customer feedback, the fruit mix has been improved to feature fewer apples and more premium fruit options. The Fruit Cup is served chilled with fresh strawberries, blueberries, red and green apple pieces and mandarin oranges.
New catering and online order menu options include:
- Grilled Chicken Bundle – This lighter, grilled chicken option makes it easy to build you own grilled chicken sandwiches. The bundle comes with 10 grilled chicken breasts, multigrain buns, Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce, Green Leaf lettuce, tomatoes, Colby-Jack cheese and Applewood smoked bacon and serves 10.
- Spicy Chilled Grilled Chicken Sub Sandwich – The Spicy Chilled Grilled Chicken Sub Sandwich provides a fresh and unique option for people who love grilled chicken but want an extra spicy kick. The boneless spicy chicken breast is marinated with a special blend of seasonings, grilled, thinly sliced and served chilled on a multigrain baguette with Pepper Jack cheese, baby greens and sliced tomato. It is served with Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce.

They are available at more than 150 metro Atlanta locations. Many experts are confused by the decision to get into the meal kit business by Chick-Fil-A, but they know one thing: Whatever the company tries to do, it usually is successful.Mealtime Kits will be available to customers in Atlanta until November 17, but customers nationwide can express their interest in trying the kits by filling out an online form. -

A new restaurant equipped with a sizable event space is coming to Atlanta’s historic Healey Building. The Pantry and Impress Events will open at 57 Forsyth Street, according to What Now Atlanta.
The eatery will resurrect the former Loaf & Kettle space and open its doors in late 2018. Downtown’s Fairlie-Poplar district is undergoing a bit of a revitalization. Some of the stalwart eateries such as Dua’s and Ruben’s Sandwiches continue to thrive, but other restaurants have given away to chain fast-food restaurants such as Moe’s and Arby’s.
Let’s hope The Pantry can draw a crowd. The site will feature a chefs counter and kitchen which leads to an atrium, What Now reports.
The menu will consist of breakfast and lunch fare of the healthy variety: salads, protein-rich sandwiches and breads. Dinner cuisine will feature charcuterie, cheese, and wine at the chefs counter.

Tickets to see the Atlanta Braves play at SunTrust Park are the most affordable out of any MLB team, according to a new study. GoBankingRates.com looked at Major League Baseball stadiums and compared what it costs fans for tickets, food, beverages and parking and the Atlanta Braves tickets came out on top.
Despite being one of the newest stadiums in all of MLB, admission to SunTrust Park came in No. 1in being the least expensive. When you add other expenses such as food, parking, etc, the Braves ballpark came in overall in second place, bested only by Coors Field.
The Braves began play in April in its second season at SunTrust Park after a quarter-century in downtown Atlanta’s Turner Field.
People heading to a Braves game are encouraged to park in Official SunTrust Parking Lots. There are 19 official parking lots operated by the Atlanta Braves that contain 14,000 parking spots. Prices in the lots range from $10 to $18, and parking can be purchased on the Braves website ahead of time.Other insights from the GoBankingRates.com study showed that it costs nearly $100 to enjoy the amenities at some of MLB’s top ballparks.

We told you about the newest thai spot in Buckhead, Chai Yo, when it soft-opened earlier this winter. Now, the eatery has hit its stride.
One of its most popular dishes so far is “Plah Pla Meuk” a grilled marinated octopus in lime juice tossed with a number of delectable veggies for ascent. If you’re a curry lover (like me) there are a handful of dishes that you’ll love, like the Neau Panang and Khew Wan Kai.
Located at 3050 Peachtree Road NW Atlanta,, Suite R-8, the restaurant is hoping its affluent address will set it apart from the competition.
The restaurant says that it brings a “chef-driven Thai concept featuring Chef DeeDee Niyomkul’s interpretation of traditional and old-world Thai recipes using new world techniques and inspiration. From the family that created Nan Thai Fine Dining, Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft and Tamarind Seed.”
We couldn’t agree more. But don’t take our word for it. Reserve your table at www.chaiyoatl.com.
