Music superstar Usher says he’s had to postpone the Atlanta dates of his Past, Present and Future tour due to injury.

“Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest USHER show of all time,” the singer said in a statement.

“My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night,” Usher posted on social media. “Unfortunately the injury has not healed yet and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week. The good news is that the doctors are saying that with appropriate rest and treatment, I should be ready to commence the tour in Washington DC on August 20th.”

Days after Vice President Kamala Harris appeared in Atlanta at the Georgia State University Convocation Center, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance held a rally at the same venue.

Trump, speaking to the crowd, said that he would “overfund the police, if we have to,” in a bid to underscore the contrast between himself and Harris.

He also vowed that under his second administration, police would get “federal immunity.”

He also made sure a few Atlanta-based Georgia officials felt his wrath. He singled out Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger for thwarting his efforts to “find” more than 11,000 votes to overturn the 2020 election.

On Gov. Brian Kemp, Trump credited himself with getting him elected.

“He’s a disloyal guy, and he’s a very average governor. Little Brian. Little Brian Kemp. Bad guy,” Trump said.

Kemp also responded to a comment made by Kemp’s wife, who said that Trump had not “earned” her vote.

On social media, Kemp responded to Trump, saying: “My focus is on winning this November and saving our country from Kamala Harris and the Democrats – not engaging in petty personal insults, attacking fellow Republicans, or dwelling on the past. You should do the same, Mr. President, and leave my family out of it.“

He also went in on Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and former boyfriend Nathan “Loverboy Wade,” as Trump called him.

Saturday’s rally follows Trump’s disastrous performance at a National Association of Black Journalists event earlier in the week in Chicago.

Seconds after being introduced, he said, “You don’t even say hello, how are you? Are you with ABC? Because I think they’re a fake news network. … I love the black population of this country. I’ve done so much for the black population.”

On Saturday, commentators speculated before the event that Trump would use the opportunity to mend his words — and fences with African-American voters still on the fence.

Supporters posted on social media to show crowds of people in the 19,000-seat arena. From videos posted on social media, the venue did not appear packed.

One of the more surreal moments came when Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones said Harris’ pantomime as a black person was akin to Milli Vanilli.

From the looks of the crowd behind him, not everyone was impressed.

Before Trump spoke, supporters, including local Blexit Director Michaela Montgomery, railed against Harris’ appeal to black Americans.

”They don’t want to talk policy, they just want to talk propaganda to steal your vote,” she said.

Just last week, Harris made her sixth visit to Georgia this year, including four weeks ago when she met with former Migos rapper Quavo to talk about how to quell gun violence.

Now she’s coming again, this time with her pick for vice president.

Rap star Megan Thee Stallion performed a free rally on Tuesday, July 30 for Vice President Kamala Harris.

The rapper announced the performance on Instagram but didn’t give much details, other than that the event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

This will be Harris’ sixth visit to Georgia this year, including three weeks ago when she met with former Migos rapper Quavo to talk about how to quell gun violence.

Megan Thee Stallion was also in Atlanta earlier this year for The Hot Girl Summer Tour. One of the concert’s two performances was canceled then rescheduled due to the city’s water issues, including a boil water advisory.

After a series that of water main breaks were fixed, Megan added an extra performance in Atlanta to please her fans.

Teenagers hanging out at Six Flags Over Georgia will need adult supervision in the evenings, according to new rules the amusement park has put into place.

Six Flags Over Georgia just announced that beginning Friday, those ages 15 and younger will need a chaperone after 4 p.m. inside the park.

What Is Six Flags’ Youth Chaperone Policy?

Guests aged 15 years or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old to enter or remain in the park after 4 p.m. daily. The park reserves the right to enforce this requirement earlier if necessary.

The chaperone must possess a valid photo ID and can oversee a maximum of 10 guests per day.

Six Flags did not specify the reason for the policy change at this time, but emphasized their commitment to maintaining the park as a place where families and friends can enjoy fun and immersive experiences together.

President Biden shocked the world on Sunday when he announced that he won’t seek re-election in the 2024 presidential campaign.

The news is without precedent but not entirely surprising, given how bad Biden did a few weeks ago in the debate against GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The debate, held in Atlanta and hosted by CNN, exposed the President, 81, as someone who couldn’t remember basic facts and names. The gaffes not only were seized on by Trump, but the political stage at large. What happened in Atlanta became fodder for the world.

“While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote in a letter posted on social media site X. “I will speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision.”

I’m Atlanta, reaction to Biden’s exit was swift:

Atlanta Mayor Andre DIckens said Biden “an extraordinary American who has dedicated his entire life to working people.”

“His incredible record on jobs, the economy, climate, reproductive rights, and his leadership on the world stage make him one of the most consequential leaders in history,” Dickens said in a statement. “Atlanta is stronger because of his leadership. Our nation is better off because of his service and I’m proud to call him friend, leader, and most of all, President.”

Former Mayor and current Biden Administration aide Keisha Lance Bottoms said “my heart is filled with a profound sense of sadness and admiration for the man who ahs served our nation with unwavering dedication and grace.”

Bill Simmons, a lifelong Democrat and Atlanta resident, said he was stunned when he saw the news about Biden.

”Shocked isn’t the word,” Simmons, a Morehouse College Alumni, said over the phone. “We’re a few months from the election. To say that this will throw the Democratic Party in disarray is an understatement.”

On the other hand, some feel that a younger candidate — like Vice President Kamala Harris —will help energize the base.

”This is actually exciting,” said Kelli Freeman, an occupational therapist from Woodstock, Georgia. “The first black woman president? Are you kidding me?”

In his announcement, Biden said endorsed Harris for president.

“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President,” Biden posted. “And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.”

Harris thanked Biden for his support and said she will continue to ready herself for the race.

“I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination,” she said.

Biden visited Atlanta frequently during his term as president as well as vice president to Barack Obama, who weighed in on the race as well post-Biden.

”We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead,” Obama said in a statement. “But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges. I believe that Joe Biden’s vision of a generous, prosperous, and united America that provides opportunity for everyone will be on full display at the Democratic Convention in August. And I expect that every single one of us are prepared to carry that message of hope and progress forward into November and beyond.”

Harris is no stranger to Atlanta, having visited the city twice in the past month for different initiatives such as economic empowerment and anti-gun violence.
