Midtown Atlanta has taken a major step forward in building a more bike-friendly and pedestrian-oriented neighborhood with the official opening of the new protected bikeway on Juniper Street.
After nearly two years of construction—and a planning process that dates back to 2010—the southbound protected bike lanes along Juniper Street are now open to cyclists.
The new facility stretches approximately one mile (12 blocks) from 14th Street to Ponce de Leon Avenue, running right through the heart of Midtown.
The Juniper Complete Street Project, led by the Midtown Alliance in close partnership with the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT), transforms this busy corridor into a true “complete street.” Key features include:

Georgia Tech student Chase Franklin shared his excitement: “It’s certainly more convenient… I live near Piedmont, so when I go to class, I don’t have to worry about parking.
