Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’: What We Know

Marvel Studios has had an outstanding working relationship with Atlanta, Georgia, when it comes to film production. We have no reason to believe that won’t continue with Avengers: Secret Wars, the new movie that will re-establish the company’s superhero franchise.

Here’s everything we know about Avengers: Secret Wars so far:

While much about the movie remains to be seen and planned, what we do know is that Avengers: Secret Wars is part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six and will follow Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

What Will Avengers: Secret Wars Be About?

The plot of Avengers: Secret Wars is yet to be divulged, but there is a fair amount of certainty that it will closely resemble the Secret Wars storyline from the epic comic book, which was a nine-issue miniseries. In that book, Doctor Doom and the Beyonders wreck havoc upon the Earth and the multi-verse.

When Will Avengers: Secret Wars Be Released?

Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in theaters on May 5, 2026. Of course, that’s barring any major strikes. Marvel has been known to tweak the dates on some movies and series, but this one seems firm.

The Cast: Who Will Be In Avengers: Secret Wars?

There has been much speculation online about what superheroes will be returning for Avengers: Secret Wars. What we know for sure is that Wesley Snipes has been tapped to reprise his role as Blade in the movie. Also in the movie will be:

  • Anthony Mackie as Captain America
  • Benedict Wong as Wong
  • Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier/White Wolf
  • Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror
  • Tom Holland as Spider-Man
  • Kathryn Newton as Cassandra Kang
  • Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk
  • Dominque Thorne as Ironheart
  • Chris Hemsworth as Thor
  • Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye
  • Don Cheadle as War Machine

Will Iron Man Return In Avengers: Secret Wars?

So far, there is no word that Iron Man will return in Secret Wars. Marvel has made a concerted effort to turn to younger actors for its superheroes. It is highly unlikely that Robert Downey Jr. will be offered a contract to appear in a succession of new films.

Final Word

It remains to be seen whether Secret Wars will conclude Phase Six of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, but it just might. If so, you can bet the MCU’s top-grossing stars — along with Atlanta — will share the limelight once again down the road.
