Atlanta’s Westside Stride Block Party Partners with Streets Alive Next Weekend

ATLANTA — Atlanta residents will have a chance to stroll, bike or roll car-free through one of the city’s most vibrant commercial corridors next Sunday when the fourth-annual Westside Stride Block Party takes place from noon to 6 p.m. on Nov. 8.

For the first time, the free event is being held in partnership with Atlanta Streets Alive, the city’s long-running open-streets program. Organizers say the collaboration expands the event’s reach while advancing a shared goal of creating safe, accessible streets that prioritize people over vehicles.

Howell Mill Road between 8th Street and 17th Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the afternoon, opening the corridor to arts and crafts and vendor booths, children’s activities, spinning DJs, food trucks and live music. Visitors can also browse the district’s shops and award-winning eateries, with the route culminating at Northside Tavern for performances.

Market and Local Shopping

The event includes a one-day vendor and artist market lining 17th Street with more than 90 booths offering vintage clothing, plants, handmade arts and crafts and other one-of-a-kind items timed for the holiday season. Attendees are also encouraged to visit nearby permanent shops that give the Upper Westside its distinctive character.

Family Activities

Families will find multiple kid-focused stops, including a petting zoo, bounce houses, outdoor games such as cornhole, and a fall-themed tiny house photo studio for family or pet portraits.

Music and Entertainment

Staggered DJ booths along the route will create a high-energy atmosphere throughout the day. Performers include Mike Zarin of Zegi, DJ iLL Withers, Disc Jockey Bottom Shelf and go-go dancers Raina & Jade. At Northside Tavern’s QTS Main Stage, the Nathalie Rose Band and Band X are scheduled to perform.

The Upper Westside Improvement District organizes Westside Stride in partnership with Atlanta Streets Alive and the Atlanta Department of Transportation. The event is designed to highlight the neighborhood’s walkable, bikeable character while supporting local businesses. New connections this year include a car-free link via Third Street to Tech Parkway and improved bicycle and pedestrian facilities on surrounding streets.

Atlanta Streets Alive, an initiative of the Atlanta Department of Transportation, temporarily opens city streets for walking, biking, skating and community activities. The Nov. 8 event is the final Streets Alive date of 2026.

Organizers encourage visitors to walk, bike or use transit where possible. More details, including parking options, are available at westsidestride.org and atlantastreetsalive.org.
