Atlanta is going to have a parade Monday at 10 a.m. for Atlanta United, the MLS champions. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced celebration over the weekend.
The Five Stripes shut out the Portland Timbers on Saturday to win the Cup 2-0 before more than 70,000 people at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta.
Atlanta United FC championship parade details
The parade will feature Atlanta United’s players, owner Arthur Blank, Gov. Nathan Deal and other officials.
The parade begins at the corner of Baker Street and Peachtree Street and will proceed past the Georgia Aquarium and Centennial Olympic Park. The route will continue on to Marietta Street and Andrew Young International Boulevard; and will conclude in The Home Depot Backyard.
The impacted streets will be closed starting at 8:00am and will open back up immediately as the parade passes through each area. All streets are expected to be fully operational by 12pm.
The entire community is encouraged to join in the celebration by watching along the route and/or attending a special program in The Home Depot Backyard. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early. The parade and program will remain as scheduled, despite pending weather conditions.
